Zany merchant Emil from NieR: Automata will set up shop in the world of Stellar Blade from 20th November, bringing 11 all-new cosmetic items to the title.

This anticipated collaboration, announced earlier in the year, is being pitched as a crossover marked by the “mutual respect” between Shift Up’s Kim Hyung Tae and industry veteran Yoko Taro. NieR has previously featured in the Korean dev’s mobile game Nikke: Goddess of Victory as well.

It’s unclear whether the new NieR: Automata content is free, but we’ll check in with PlayStation to try and get confirmation.

In addition to the crossover content, Stellar Blade will also be getting four new outfits and an additional accessory. The latter will change the look of Tachy Mode, which is pretty neat. The long-awaited Photo Mode, with a ton of functionality including the ability to position and pose characters, will finally be added, too.

There’ll also be lip-syncing for six more languages, including French, Spanish, Italian, German, and Portuguese. Moreover, there’ll be some quality of life gameplay improvements designed to smooth out the experience for everyone.

It’s worth noting Stellar Blade was recently updated for PS5 Pro and utilises the new system extremely well, offering a “gigantic leap” in image quality over the base console.

“This DLC and patch updates were prepared by our dev team with one heart and one mind, and we are absolutely delighted to share this with you,” Shift Up’s Dong Ki Lee wrote on the PS Blog. “We hope that the NieR: Automata collaboration items and the new Photo Mode will bring more joy to your gameplay. We will continue to do our best to keep up with the anticipation and love our players show us.”
