Update: A second Billbil-Kun report has this weekend detailed the sort of discounts Sony is expected to make available across its range of PS5 DualSense controllers for Black Friday, including the DualSense Edge. According to the leaker, a "minimum" of €20 will be knocked off the price of PS5 pads.
- PS5 DualSense Controllers (Standard, in a variety of colours) — €54.99 (~£45 — a discount of €20 in Europe)
- PS5 DualSense Edge Controller — €219.99 (~£183 — a discount of €20 in Europe)
Original article: Sony will reportedly offer significant discounts across base PS5 systems and the PSVR2 headset this Black Friday, with reliable leaker Billbil-Kun detailing what the company supposedly has planned. Their report focuses on Europe, but Sony has already confirmed via a new PS5 advert that the base PS5 Slim system will be $380 for the busy buying season.
The leaker says the Black Friday promotion will run from 22nd November to 12th December and offers the following:
- PS5 Slim (Standard) — €474.99 (~£396 — a discount of €75 in Europe)
- PS5 Slim (Digital) — €374.99 (~£312 — a discount of €75 in Europe)
- PSVR2 — €399.99 (~£332 — a discount of €200 in Europe)
- PSVR2 w/ Horizon Call of the Mountain — €399.99 (~£332 — a discount of €250 in Europe)
Billbil-Kun also claims the PS5 consoles will be available in a Fortnite Cobalt Star bundle at the exact same price, which bundles in cosmetics for the Battle Royale title as well as 1,000 V-Bucks. Sony will discount the PS5 in other territories like the UK also, though the region's reported price cuts weren't included in the report. We will share more details on any official Black Friday deals from Sony as they become public.
The new PS5 Pro is highly unlikely to feature in any Black Friday sales, but you may be able to score a discount on some of its accessories, DualSense controllers, and PS5 Pro Enhanced games. What are you hoping to pick up on the cheap this Black Friday? Share your wishlist in the comments below.

If PSVR2 started at around this price point, maybe the perception of it could've been a lot more productive
looking forward to getting my 30th Anniversary DualSense around this time instead!
That VR2 price is very tempting, I've saved enough to get me either a Steam Deck or the VR2 but just waiting to see if there's a sale on the Deck before choosing.
If you are on the fence about VR, let this price convince you!
I absolutely love my PSVR2!
And if you are a Premium + subscriber you have a ready made library there for you and you absolutely should play Pistol Whip and Walk about golf!
PS5 Pro is actually discounted in the UK at Argos and John Lewis
Let’s be honest, PSVR2 will be £399 as well 😭
If you are still looking at getting a psvr2 get one it's at a price it should have launched at.
Wow, good price for the psvr2. I hope it will convince more people into trying it. I love mine. Piece of advice, buy the globular cluster for extra comfort.
So the standalone PSVR2 is discounted to the same price as the bundle with Call of the Mountain? That doesn’t make much sense.
@Ravix Yea I got a Pro for 659.99 a couple of days ago Noticed it's 689.99 now though.
Hoping Resident Evil 4 Remake Gold Edition is £20 or less.
@Netret0120 £27 on the salse page atm
I dont care about any of this. I just want a discount on PS Plus.
Well I'm after a new tv and trying to find a disc drive, at 300 for that vr is also very tempting.
@Ravix still 659.99 squid at John Lewis - that's a pretty good price right now
@Stevemalkpus It's about moving stock. Makes perfect sense.
@Scarface82G1 At time of writing, the Pro is still £659 (along with two year guarantee) at John Lewis
Might have to jump back on PSVR2 at that price
@Stevemalkpus Have you a link for this?
I hope to see ps+ discounts too.
I picked one up in the last round of discounts, it's great. I'm tempted to get a second backup headset at this price just for the controllers.
@Ravix It already went back up to £690 at Argos.
@Hundred_Hand_Slap got mine in Denmark, no problems, couldn't get the EDGE version or the console itself though...
@Jacko11 it'll likely be the same amount of £ discount as € discount, so £200 discount = £329.99
never forget US prices do not include any sales tax. and UK has 20% sales tax (VAT)
euro countries VAT amount does vary from country to country, but euro price is the same across all
@UltimateOtaku91 These are very different experiences, and I admittedly have no interest in handhelds, but I can tell you that PSVR2 has refreshed my passion for gaming in a way I wasn't expecting at all.
I wish we had a new sale on pstore this week.
Sadly have to wait for next week it seems.
A few games im itching to try but want a good discount on.
I think $399 for a PS5 Pro with a built in disc drive sounds good to me 😄
I wish there was a sale on PS Portal.
What site will the psvr2 be on?
Very have an 20% offer on for new customers that sign up for a credit account with them. It works on the PS5 Pro. The catch is you're taking a hard credit search on your record, but you don't actually need to use the credit to get the offer and can pay in full using your card.
The code is WELCOME and I have ordered a PS5 Pro disc bundle for £635 (instead of £794).
I do NOT recommend using the credit account for anything as the APR is ridiculous. I only recommend doing this if you're going to pay with your card.
Well it's the 15th so the leakers information is already incorrect, but we shall see. It's natural there will be some sort of black Friday sale both on consoles and in the PS Store
@GigaGaia https://www.playstationlifestyle.net/2024/11/15/ps5-black-friday-2024-promotion-dates-info/ says they expect accessories like ps portal to come into effect around the same time
@lazarus11 Wait until 2025 models are out with the new Mediatek chip with four HDMI 2.1 ports, up to 165Hz VRR, and a plethora of other significant advancements. I'm was going to get the highly praised & best bang for your buck Hisense U8N but decided to wait until next year.
@Almost_Ghostly Mediatek oh that's not something I like with phones it stands for updates that stop as fast as possible.
I think it’s meant to be from 22 November given thats when most BF sales start.
I might bit at another vr at that price. I just hope the offer runs over to the 1st when i get paid. Spent too much this month already.
@Almost_Ghostly yeah I was looking at the u8 but it's nearly twice the price of the u7 and not much difference , I'll see what black friday deals there are.
"The leaker says the Black Friday promotion will run from 12th November to 12th December"
You mean from the 22nd right?? 16th today and no sale is live....
Ps5 pro has been in sale as of late as well here in the uk
BLUF - I have decided to forego the Extra subscription, and drop down to Essential... because I literally don't think it's worth it as a gamer. The lack of any seemingly 'reduced price' at the end of the year has cemented that it's now just an illusion of value (for me).
So ... sigh... I often feel frustrated being 'that' person... but can we talk about PS+ prices. If you're on Essential for the last 1-2 years, there's been little extra value (despite the huge increases in costs/exclusion of sale prices). So what are we actually paying for? I know that the idea of getting a sale on PS+ 12 month subscriptions is apparently 'old fashioned''... but for the life of me I don't understand why. I had PS+ because of multiplayer/saves... begrudgingly... but this current situation seems a lot more 'FOMO' to me... because their offering "free games" with a subscription boost. Who can resist... free games?
I've been looking through my catalogue... trying to ascertain which ones were actually monthly games and which were Extra subscription-based. Looking through the games I played, there were very few that I played through on Extra. Whereas the ones I bought or were monthly (ie semi-permanent) I did play. I found that surprisingly the games I played most, were NOT the Extra subscription games...
So this (pre) Black Friday, I've decided to actually drop my Extra subscription. I've often had a go at GP, but did 2 years of Extra to see what it actually was like. Reviewing it... I am now 100% sure that for me (not you) it's not worth it, and I think it's adversely affected my gaming experience.
I also found that I played less games through to completion (based on my 'purchase' which means ticking a download button on a 500+ game catalogue that doesn't cost anything.
I reflected on this for the last few months, I do NOT get value out of this subscription (for me). I like being able to sample games 'at no extra cost', but I find myself less inclined to really jump in. I admit - this is a 'me' problem; but I suspect it's not unusual. It's hard to argue with the simplicity of things like "the best value in gaming"... and on paper things like GP and PS+ Extra/Deluxe/Premium seem great value.
My point (circling around)... for most people (especially at my age) I don't have infinite time... and the mirage of doing a taste-test, when deleting a game is easier than doing it justice (because there's so many possible games to try)... it just doesn't make sense to me. I used to play games that I bought or 'earned?' monthly off PS+. Now I have very little interest in spending more than the bare minimum time before the "tried and died" attention-span (maybe 1-2 hours at MOST / and also because I run 2 TB PS5 / 2 TB other... I just run out of space before I HAVE to delete games).
I'm actually thinking I might finally get a steam deck this year and I'm hoping there's some good black Friday discounts on it.
@MattBoothDev I did this too and got the PS5 Pro for around £560, far more palatable. I then sold my PS5 making it around £265 net, happy with that.
The only annoyance is they didn’t have the disc drive bundle in stock when I ordered so I’m still waiting and looking for one of those. I’m in no rush, early next year will be fine.
Did you receive yours incl. the drive? I got mine last weekend.
@UltimateOtaku91 I’d go with PSVR2 unless you don’t mind games running like crap on the Deck lol
@MattBoothDev That is a great deal buddy, much better than the £825 I forked out!
Kudos to you for pointing out credit is not the way to go as it is too easy to fall into that trap, whilst I love my Pro it is most definitely not worth getting into debt for!
@UltimateOtaku91 I have both, buy a steam deck you'll definitely get more from it.
@Flaming_Kaiser What? LOL! That's complete nonsense. The chip manufacturer has absolutely nothing to do with how often a phone or tv receives updates.
@lazarus11 The U7N is darn good too. However, some things to keep in mind.
Contrast
U7N: 88,933 : 1
U8N: 282,400 : 1
Native Contrast
U7N: 4,771 : 1
U8N: 9,449 : 1
Dimming Zones (65")
U7N: 384
U8N: 1,600
Peak Brightness
U7N: 1500
U8N: 3000
Let's go Astrobot sale even if it's $10-15 off been looking to play it with the nephews for Xmas
I’ve been in doubt about buying a PS VR2 for a year now, since I don’t know if I’ll experience motion sickness. For this price and with GT7, RE4 and RE Village on the shelf I’ll probably can’t resist.
Does anyone know if these prices are for PS Direct or for other retailers as well?
@Almost_Ghostly The company does and Mediatek has a bad update policy it has a reason why it's in the cheaper phones.
The Edge controller is such a scam. Apparently the replacement thing sticks are next to impossible to buy and they didn't even fix the drift issue, which is fixable and therefore wouldn't necessitate removable thumb sticks.
@themightyant mines not due to be delivered until the 29th November 😐 right at the end of my week off 😂
I ordered last Wednesday and they had disc bundles available, one per customer!
@Almost_Ghostly oooh that's a massive difference in specs , you might have changed my mind ha ha.... it seems they don't make the u8n at 55 inch which I need ,anything bigger would mean I have to start taking shelves down and my speaker set up would have to be moved, I'll have to see how much of a discount black friday holds to see if its worth the hassle.
@Mostik Absolutely. Wouldn't have gone through with it myself if I had to use the credit as I think the total cost would've been about £1,200, which is absolutely crazy. The hard search has already hit my credit score but I don't really care about it.
@Flaming_Kaiser You are completely full of it. It's about the device branding, not the chipset. You can easily find this information if you want to. Also, why do you need 5 years of updates on a tv if there's nothing wrong with it that needs updating? Even Sony's high end tv's use Mediatek. Are you saying they don't receive updates and are low priced junk? LOL!
@lazarus11 They do make U8N in 55".
I understand the frustration. On the other side if they would regularly give out 30% discounted renewals at every black Friday, everyone would just wait this period to renew as it's a yearly membership.
@Almost_Ghostly What low priced Sony TVs Mediatek for me on mobile especially is for phones that don't get fast updates and don't get them for a long time.
@Flaming_Kaiser Low priced Sony tvs? Sonys flagships use Mediatek. And again, the chipset doesn't dictate when a phone or any other device receives an update. Stop pushing that flat out lie. Low end tvs and low end cheap phones get less updates, but that's not because of Mediatek. There are cheapo phones and tvs that use other chips and also do not receive fast or many updates. It's the device manufacturer that does this, not whatsoever due to the chipset used.
@Almost_Ghostly Maybe learn to read there are no low priced Sony TV's the first word is what maybe put on your glasses. Every Sony Mediatek phone I had from Sony had a terrible update policy.
@Flaming_Kaiser Except you're wrong again. And again, and again, and again, and again, and.... But what you're saying is that you don't know the difference between a brands flagship model and their lower end models. Sony 55" X77L is $500. Sony 55" X95L is $2500. Both use Mediatek chips. One gets very few updates while the other receives regular updates. Can you guess which is which? No? Didn't think so. Try to keep up. Maybe if you didn't buy low end garbage, you wouldn't have to worry about updates. For the last time, it's not the chipset manufacturer that issues and dictates when or how often a device receives updates. This information is easily available to you, but you refuse to do the research because you don't want to be proven wrong. Mediatek has NOTHING to do with when a device receives updates. Period. End of story. If you wish to argue otherwise, you're just being willfully ignorant and refusing to look up the facts.
