A black PS Portal is rumoured to be part of a PS5 accessories refresh that Sony has planned for the near future. A new report from Dealabs insider Billbil-Kun suggests the current PS Portal model will soon be available in a black colourway, and will retail at the same price as the design already on the market now. They claim this will be a limited launch, so you may face an upwards battle trying to pre-order one.
Elsewhere in the report, Billbil-Kun states "other hardware and accessories seem to be in the works at Sony", and they'll be released "very soon". They say they don't have enough "verified information" for a full report yet, however.
This follows on from yesterday's claim of a Helldivers 2-themed PS5 controller also set to be part of the accessories update. The insider has also said that lots of PlayStation-related things are "being prepared behind the scenes" — as if they aren't at pretty much all times. Some fans have taken this to mean the possibility of a new PlayStation Showcase or State of Play, but Jeff Grubb of Giant Bomb has suggested that's not happening.

A black PS Portal sounds great, with the bezel already in black and the backside of the standard version dominated by a dull white area. An all-black model would make it look much more like „one piece“, instead of a halved DualSense attached to a tablet with Ultrahand.

I’ve had pretty much zero interest in the Portal mainly because I’m not sure if my WiFi is up to the task, but a black one? What with last week’s IGN Game Scoop podcast stating that a recent firmware update has really improved latency, damn, I might actually bite this Christmas!

Managed to get one last year when they launched but I sold it as my wi-fi wasn't strong enough for it.
