We don't need to wait for next month's Game of the Year deliberations to arrive; Showa American Story has already very comfortably won the award for 2024's craziest PS5 trailer with the above effort. It's five minutes of complete mayhem, featuring everything from the White House to a woman sitting on the toilet. Check it out above.

The game is coming to PS5 at some point next year, developed by NEKCCOM Entertainment. The Chinese studio has previously made the Dying titles for PS5 and PS4, so Showa American Story represents quite a leap in scale and scope for the team. A PS4 version was confirmed upon the original reveal over two years, but it's not mentioned anywhere in this latest trailer drop and supporting information, so the last-gen edition may have been cancelled.

If you need some proper context for the trailer, it's pitched as an "RPG and an enthusiastic love letter to the 80s' pop culture that features a strong taste of B-Movie". You play as a teenage girl who's been "mysteriously revived from the dead" in a USA under Japanese control. You're apparently out for revenge after "a mysterious catastrophic incident changes the whole world drastically".

It's coming to PS5 in 2025. What are your thoughts? Post them in the comments below.
