This Time Next Year, You Could Be Playing GTA 6 on PS5 1

In some ways we can’t believe we’re even writing this sentence, but this time next year, you could already be playing GTA 6.

The anticipated open worlder has always had a tentative release date of 2025 attached, and Take-Two insists it’ll be out “in the fall of calendar 2025”. That’s more or less 12 months away.

Now, of course, there’s still time for plans to change. Rockstar could hit some unforeseen development snags, and may need to keep the release in the oven for a little longer. But as of right now, the title is on track.

The imminent arrival of GTA 6 is not affecting sales of its decade-old predecessor, though. GTA 5 has now sold an absolutely mesmerising 205 million copies, and engagement with GTA Online remains strong, following the introduction of new content throughout the year.

“GTA Online exceeded our plans, driven by sustained engagement with the summer content pack Bottom Dollar Bounties and an array of updates, including the new multistage Assault on ATT-16 mode,” bigwig Strauss Zelnick told investors.

One thing of note is that GTA+ subscriptions jumped by 35% this year, after Rockstar made the controversial decision to lock some oft-requested gameplay features behind the pricey monthly membership. All of this is good news for Take Two’s stock price, of course – but not-so good news for players.
