With the Christmas break essentially here, the Last Chance to Play section of PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium has been updated to let you know what PS5, PS4 games you might want to prioritise between servings of brussel sprouts, as they're about to leave the service.
All departing on Tuesday, 14th January 2025, the following games will no longer be playable via PS Plus no matter if you have redeemed/downloaded them or not:
- Resident Evil 2 (PS5, PS4)
- Hardspace: Shipbreaker (PS5, PS4)
- Just Cause 3 (PS4)
- Street Fighter 30th Anniversary Collection (PS4)
- Legend of Mana (PS4)
- Secret of Mana (PS4)
- Dragon Ball FighterZ (PS5, PS4)
- Life Is Strange: Before the Storm (PS4)
- Life Is Strange (PS4)
- Just Cause 4 (PS4)
- Pure Hold'em (PS4)
In terms of time investment for a standard completion, most of these titles could be finished in roughly 20 hours or less. The only considerably longer games are Legend of Mana and Secret of Mana, so you'll want to start them sooner rather than later if you've got them in your backlog.
Will you be prioritising any of these departing PS5, PS4 titles? Let us know in the comments below.

Every months outgoings always feel like a bigger loss that the incoming titles. The service really needs to have a far better consistency of good games. A few years ago, I genuinely felt that PlayStation Plus was a match for Gamepass, I even preferred the games available to the service, but now? Not so good.
Man it feels like the games leaving each month are such good ones. Guess I'm glad I don't have to worry about that anymore 🙃
Maybe I need to try those Life is Strange games sooner than later. Shame to see Shipbreaker go too, I was just about to finish my playthrough, it's not the kind of game you rush.
Own everything I want to play from here already. Subscriptions are a bum deal.
@MrPeanutbutterz for you? Yes.
For others, maybe not.
Plus Extra did let me play a lot of great games that I was unsure to pay for and in the end it was cheaper than buying them all. And no, I don't care about the "I must own my own physical copy of the game or I'll have severe anxiety thing" .
I think some subscriptions are great for some people ofc, not a general bum deal
@Diowine Well I can only speak for myself and no one else. So yeah, bum deal.
My PS+ Extra expired in early December. I was going to downgrade to Essential, given how poor the Extra service had become given the price, but I eventually let it lapse as I have a USB stick to save my PS4 saves to..
Don't have enough free time to try out all the games, never mind Premium, so I really can't justify spending £100 or more on simply backing up PS5 game saves (of which there are very few) and playing online when ESO is waiting for the next expansion.
Hardspace Shipbreaker is fantastic. Both relaxing time sink and tense puzzle game with a nice little story wrapped up in it, I would recommend getting on it before it’s gone!
I poked around JC4 here once again (after first trying it as an IGC item on main account way back when), but I knew this wouldn't last. Still bummed I missed the EGS giveaway before 2022; I wishlisted the game instead but that obviously became useless as with all other Squeenix releases on PC. Chances are it'll end up my only black flag vessel in the series once there's room enough on Deck for it - although Switch and/or its successor might yet alter that probability.
@Bionic-Spencer I've generally felt this way most months this past year or so, but there's nothing on this list that was on my radar. It's so subjective, but this month the games added are a net positive over the ones leaving to me.
I've been banging that drum that Plus has been slipping (after a really strong period, to be fair), but this month they get a pass from me.
thinking of getting premium for the PSVR2 games. Not sure though!
