There have been LEGO games for many of cinema's biggest franchises, and now, we know that James Bond was almost among that group.
A teaser trailer for a cancelled LEGO James Bond game has recently emerged online, and it looks like it could've been another great TT Games adventure:
The video features LEGO-ified versions of scenes from numerous movies, including The Spy Who Loved Me, The Man with the Golden Gun, and more. Of course, many of the scenes build on the action with TT Games' typical brand of humour.
Unfortunately, while it looks like a great fit, it wasn't to be. According to Reddit user LEGOGameMuseum, this video was from 2016, and it's a pitch trailer to make a full game. However, LEGO didn't approve of the violence and sexual innuendo common in Bond films being put in a game for kids.
Apparently, another barrier is TT Games' parent company, Warner Bros, which doesn't own the James Bond IP. This isn't a problem for the likes of Harry Potter or DC, but Bond may be difficult to secure.
We reckon a LEGO James Bond game would work well, though. The action, gadgets, cars, and larger-than-life characters all seem to fit quite naturally, and there's a vast amount of material to work with.
Alas, it may never happen, but it's fascinating to know that it nearly did.

Paging @RogerRoger
In theory, I love this, but, In practice… it’s a Lego game, so we dodged a bullet… literally, maybe many of them!
The concept is fantastic, but I tend to agree that LEGO games are rarely as fun as I'd like them to be. Still, would have loved this to get made.
I'd surely get bored of it within 20 mins, but a lego bond game focussing on the Sean Connery and Roger Moore movies would have been comedy gold
You can't cancel something that never made it past the pitch stage can you?
I mean Warner Bros doesn’t own Marvel and they make Marvel LEGO games. So no reason Bond should be a problem
But the Lego DC Supervillain game (usually 18 rated content and characters in other media) was okay?
Always wanted a proper Bond game that spanned his entire film history. Still, maybe Lego isn't a good fit for Bond anyway.
What a miss. Looks brilliant
I would have loved this...
Bond hell yes but lego? NO,NO,NOOOOOOO..
Yeah, tonally I imagine that would have been an absolute nightmare of a tightrope to walk, for the writers/animators.
oh wow, a new skin for a lego game. exciting!
Not even Q could invent a gadget capable of prying apart two 1x1’s
Not that much of a miss seeing as 98% of these LEGO games are identical anyway.
The Lego games seemed to go downhill post PS3, apart from Lego Super Villains on the PS4 which was quite good.
LSW: The Skywalker Saga was nowhere near as much fun as LSW: The Original Trilogy on PS2/PSP or LSW: The Complete Saga on PS3.
Perhaps they are missing the creative talents, such as Jon Burton?
I absolutely love the Lego games and this would have been brilliant. Absolutely baffled at the negativity in the comments here.
Would also love to see a Doctor Who rendition. Both franchises have a plethora of content to draw from.
