Black Myth, Elden Ring Push Square

Geoff Keighley has announced the finalists of The Game Awards' community vote, and the final five nominees that have made it through two rounds of voting are completely unsurprising. Votes are being collected now until Wednesday, with the nominees being:

You can place your last vote here, with the final round concluding at 6pm PT / 9pm ET / 2am GMT on Wednesday, 11th December (the 12th in the UK). The winner will be announced during The Game Awards on Thursday night.

Due to the huge sales success and positive reception, Black Myth: Wukong was always going to make the final five, but what is surprising is to see Elden Ring expansion Shadow of the Erdtree join it. The show has received some backlash for nominating a game DLC for the main Game of the Year award, but it seems a lot of viewers agree with the inclusion and also want to pick it in the fan vote.

The two finalists are joined by three gacha titles: Genshin Impact, Wuthering Waves, and Zenless Zone Zero. Wuthering Waves actually releases for PS5 on 2nd Janauary 2025, while the other two have been available for a while now. These sorts of games typically give their playerbase free in-game currencies if they win the award, so it's no surprise to see most of the list made up of gacha games.
