GTA 6 PS5

Developers aren't willing to commit to release dates that could clash with the Fall 2025 launch window GTA 6 has set up for itself, a new Bloomberg report claims. The outlet states (via Jason Schreier) teams want to wait as long as possible to see whether the next Rockstar game does indeed release at the end of next year or slips into 2026 before they decide to commit to launching in that window themselves. It's claimed other developers wish to stay "far, far away" from GTA 6.

The report claims: "Anticipation is so high that some competing game publishers are waiting as long as possible to commit to their release dates for the fall, according to people familiar. The publishers want to see whether GTA 6 will make its deadline or slip into 2026, these people say, and they’re determined to keep their own games far, far away."

A sequel to one of the best-selling video games of all time, GTA 6 is expected to demand an unprecedented amount of media and public interest when it releases. Any game releasing in close proximity will almost certainly have its sales affected, so developers are looking to avoid such as a situation as much as possible. As of right now, more than a year after the first trailer release, GTA 6 is slated to release in Fall 2025, though rumours circulating over the past 12 months have suggested a delay to 2026 is possible.
