FromSoftware has announced a new, standalone Elden Ring with the subtitle Nightreign, releasing in 2025 for PS5 and PS4. Elden Ring: Nightreign is a co-op game that appears to pull in bosses from other FromSoftware experiences, with The Nameless King from Dark Souls 3 appearing in the footage.
- Rise Together – Join forces with other players to take on the creeping night and the dangers within featuring three-player cooperative play.
- Become a Hero – Take command of uniquely skilled heroes, each possessing their own abilities and distinct flair. While individually powerful, their skills grow even more formidable when united as a team.
- Take on the Night – Overcome a relentless environmental threat that sweeps through a land that changes between each game session and defeat the magnificent boss of that night!

Yessss!!!! I love exploring From soft games with a friend.
After playing most of Elden Ring coop, it was very boring trying to finish it by myself. The sense of discovery in telling a friend to check this out was so much fun.

@TruestoryYep GTA VI is winning GOTY but if any game poses a threat its a From game. MHW won't even be the best game the month its released in going by that very underwhelming beta.
Story line makes me think of Hyrule Warriors though I know this isn’t a warriors type game. I’ll tell my kid, though they’re PC gaming these days.
Thank god it’s standalone. Would not be looking forward to coordinating with people trying to get whatever multiplayer trophies this will have.

Monster Hunter games are all the same copy n paste clunky game play trash. Hope Elden Ring has a solo mode. Don't wanna be forced to play with scrubs!
@CrushALL what a childish comment. The monster hunter franchise has sold more than 100 million units with the latest mainline entry, world, topping 20 million. It’s ok to say something isn’t for you without it being “trash”, which it clearly isn’t as the combat is the main gameplay focus of the series.

Looks like just another (soul)less multiplayer battle royale. No wonder it’s coming out soon, it’s just reused assets in the same engine

I wish this were a Dark Souls game instead of ER but I have to admit it looks great.
The boys at FromSoft love money as much as any company does lol.
That doesn't take anything from the fact that they are great. It's just funny that many people just realized.
Was excited for a second til I read co-op
I am torn on this. As much as I love Elden Ring, I don't really play games in co-op (I'm not a chicken first off) and my history with roguelites/likes has been mixed.
And I'm not sure i really want to face The Nameless King again.

Bloodborne is in my top 3 games of all time and I absolutely loved DS3 and ER. That said, anyone else think this trailer didn't look that impressive? When From Software's name appeared on screen, my heart skipped a beat, but then when I saw this was literally just more Elden Ring, I kinda came back to Earth. I was really hoping Miyazaki was being honest when he said they were moving on from Elden ring.

And Fromsoft have been re-using assets for years. Nevertheless, I'm very up for this; it sounds like they've made a slew of characters from across the game, who represent different playstyles, with different weapons and abilities, and then you fight through a randomised series of bosses from across the past few games, I'm guessing, with some amount of permanent progress.
All in for that.
@LavenderShroud I'm with you. Don't get me wrong, I like elden ring and armored core, up to a point, but I REALLY don't get the obsession among the Fromsoft fans. It's a bizarre fixation.
@JohnnyShoulder I've always contended that soulsborne have ALWAYS been cleverly disguised rogue likes.
