Already available on Nintendo Switch and PC, visual novel Needy Streamer Overload is beaming to the PS5 and PS4 from 21st January. The game – which depicts the darker side of parasocial relationships – see you assume the role of a vapid individual, who’s only goal in life is to become an Internet sensation.
“Turn Ame-chan – somewhat of a hot mess of a girl – into an OMGWTF-cute Internet angel and jumpstart her career as a live streamer for the most hardcore otakus online,” the official blurb reads. You’ll be pulling the strings by advising her on how to behave, and you’ll also get an insight into her personal life.
The press release continues: “She’ll start out getting few comments and even less followers, but under your direction and guidance she can amass more and more devoted listeners / obsessed fans, turning her into a super-popular streamer – and thus allowing you to squeeze stupid amounts of cash out of her donation-happy otaku followers.”
This game actually got a lot of promotion in Japan and sold over one million copies, resulting in various action figures and collectibles for the main character being created. A typing game spin-off was also announced for the PC alongside this port, so we wouldn’t be surprised if a sequel eventually followed at some point.

HMM... The dark side, you say?
Wonder if it'll be as light-hearted as doki-doki...
I just got this on a Steam sale. We’ll see if I want it here too. Hopefully some reviews compare it to the PC version.
