Bandai Namco has released the remastered intro video for stone-cold PS Vita classic Freedom Wars, which is coming to PS5 and PS4 on 10th January. This is comfortably one of our favourites from the underrated Sony handheld, so we’re thrilled to see it get a new lease of life.

The game was originally developed by Dimps in collaboration with Japan Studio, and the former is so passionate about the project it’s decided to bring it back. Sony is licensing out the intellectual property to Bandai Namco to publish, and we’re thrilled it’s willing to do that.

The game itself was one of several attempts from PlayStation to plug the gap left when Monster Hunter switched from PSP to Nintendo 3DS. It’s got a futuristic anime flavour, where an overpopulated world means humans are born with 1,000,000 year prison sentences, and must work to reduce their time in the slammer.

All that means you’ll be spending your time taking contracts and eliminating monsters. In addition to firearms, you’ll also have a hookshot which you can use to navigate the surprisingly vertical environments.

Is this a title you’re eager to revisit on console? Bring down that sentence in the comments section below.
