As you all already know, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is coming to the PS5 next spring, which means many of you will have to wait a little longer to get your hands on the movie series spin-off. But obviously, with the Xbox Series X|S and PC release imminent, Bethesda has released a launch trailer to give you a flavour for the game.
There are few real surprises here: the video features a mixture of first-person combat, puzzle solving, and cutscenes. We do get a little hint of the late Tony Todd’s performance, who sadly passed away recently, and won’t get to see the game launch.
We’re still not overly convinced by the first-person perspective, but there’s no doubt the game is winning us over in these brief gameplay snippets. Will you be holding tight until the aforementioned Spring 2025 launch, or is this a game you simply have to play as soon as possible? Solve the puzzle in the comments section below.

First-person gameplay, a no for me.
God tier sub header Sammy
Sorry first person nay sayers are just ridiculous. It just is....
Anyway. Wonder if there a pro version!!
@Danloki Thank you mate!
@MeanBeanEgg
I used to despise first person and I was a third person purist until one of my favorite series (Resident Evil) went first person. It forced me to give it a try and I would up really enjoying it.
I think if it's done well then first person is fine.
As a massive Indy fan, I’m so happy to see this (back) on PS5. Can’t wait to play!
I'll be romping through this on PC!
@Mintie same. Can’t wait.
Still not convinced. Will see what reviews make of it.
Was gonna wait for the PS5 Pro version but managed to extend my gamepass ultimate sub for another year thanks to a quick holiday to India 😉 for £32 I can’t complain, INDY HERE I COMEEEEE
I just hope we can use that famous Indiana Jones whip to whip a monkey on the bum 🐒
@AfroMario
Or snatch a firearm out of someone's hand
This is a tough one to gauge. something about it just views like a VR game. I think a lot of this game will live or die on its exploration and story, As the combat and stealth look pretty generic.
I'm a huge Indy fan, However, I'm not sold on the first-person format and gameplay we have seen thus far. I think an Indy game would have been better served in a different perspective and/or going full immersive Sim. who knows though, if the exploration isn't also super simplified due to the perspective, it could be decent. modern gaming doesn't really take the risks with big Ip games that would be needed for something like the Buther Bay Riddick comparisons going around. It was a different time, and now everything is unfortunately dumbed down and simplified to appeal to the widest audience.
Hope it's good as Indy has been done dirty via the Disney overlord factory, maybe they gave machine games a long leash.
@Oram77
Correct.
This belongs in my PS5 Pro!
Still very surprised to see the backlash the first-person perspective is getting. It's fair to say the IP would work better in third-person (which... I guess. I get it, but going off the presumable intention to 'feel' like Indy, first-person makes the most sense. That's why RoboCop is in first-person, so you get to roleplay as RoboCop rather than just controlling RoboCop), but the outright dismissal of the game based on its camera perspective is borderline baffling.
Of course preference is okay, and I see legitimate arguments to be made for it being third-person — mostly based around faster, looser traversal and movement (but then it's kinda just Uncharted, so what's the point?). But we're out here acting like first-person isn't a super common design trope in the industry that has yielded hundreds of high quality games. And, moreover, we're not acknowledging that there's nary a game that's ruined from switching between the two most common perspectives — off the top of my head, Splatoon probably wouldn't work in first-person, Half-Life would lose a great deal of its self-insert immersion. I guess Uncharted wouldn't work in first-person either; I feel like I'm missing something here, but I can't help but feel these calls of a third-person Indy stem from the uninspired thought that an Indiana Jones game should just play like Uncharted.
I really want this to be good. I trust MachineGames though, will happily bung Christmas money on a pre-order.
Nice pun, Push Square
I'm pretty curious about this. The Indy IP has lost a lot of luster to me, but MachineGames is a solid dev so I think is going to be good.
Curious of the pacing of this game. Uncharted works because there's a lot of gunplay in between cutscenes and set pieces. Indy doesnt slaughter thousands of bad guys like Nathan Drake or even Lara Croft. First person stealthing around with a horrid field of view just doesn't appeal to me much.
if you don't want to play this because its fps , then its ur loss. i am super excited for this. time to become indiana jones , lets gooo
Indy is selling extremely poor on xbox and pc. you’re not missing out on anything
It is looking really cool. Might get Gamepass for the first time in 16 months for the dust collecting Series S.
@Savage_Joe You mean on the two platforms where it's included to play on day one for no additional cost on Gamepass? The prosecution rests, Your Honour.
@LN78 I mean that doesn't fully work as an example. STALKER 2 sold a million copies and was no.1 on Steam for a bit despite being on GPU Day one. I wonder if others are also waiting for reviews because the combat does look a little flat.
I get to be in Indy’s body. See through his eyes. This is literally me reliving that Saturday afternoon in my garden after watching Raiders for the first time. But with real treasures to find.
people do not understand what type of game this is they automatically assume its a reskined uncharted and say nope should be in third person.
It is made by the people who did chronicles of Riddick escape from butcher bay its that type of game and that was first person
@breakneck I agree, the combat looks flat and in some trailers the movement seem quite janky. I think this is a overhyped game at the moment, but we'll see in may I guess.
Indiana Jones is going to be pretty great if my intuition is correct.
The level of nostalgia is through the roof.
@DonJorginho GBP32 for a year subscription to ultimate... congrats... but also, how is this good for the industry? And to be honest, I gave up on Sony's PS+ Extra (and that was AUD169 or about GPB86 for just the mid-tier).
Microsoft are really throwing money at getting people to stay in their eco-system. Perhaps especially outside of the 'developed world'... and yes, I say that ironically, because India's economy is going gang-busters.
As I said however... good shopping. You're not the one setting the prices, but you're being a savvy shopper.
@breakneck Point taken - although Stalker 2 did have an in-built PC fanbase who were pretty much foaming at the mouth in anticipation for that game. A lot of the naysaying about the Indy game is coming from butthurt PS fanboys who are narked about having to wait 3 months to play a potential GOTY.
@LN78 I am very excited for the game though. As I said in an earlier post it may be the first time I re-sub to GPU in over a year. I'm just waiting for reviews first and I do trust MachineGames to make good stuff.
Anyone butthurt over a timed delay is being childish.
Will play it completely free on GP next week anyway (still have saved up 2 free months)
I'm a big fan of the movies, and this looked just like... a movie. I'm skeptical. Also Machingames making it could mean klunky gameplay/ combat. Guess we'll find out come spring.
Looks fun! One weird concern I wasn’t expecting to have is the exact same whip sound, iconic sound though it is, repeating any time it’s used in the trailer. That could get very annoying very quickly.
Day one purchase for me (depending on the review). This looks ace and comes across as the true successor to the OG Trilogy.
"I know enough to get me into trouble" is such a great line, and nails the vibe of the first 3 films. I really hope this game is good!!
@Savage_Joe Um, where is the evidence to back that up. Nothing shows it is selling poorly. Just salty that MS bought Bethesda?
@LN78 So Game Pass does canibalize sales?
@MeanBeanEgg Who's arguing otherwise?
@LN78 Most people do, including on Pure Xbox lol.
@MeanBeanEgg Go argue with them, then.
I think waiting is very easy. Not because I'm not interested, but because nowadays waiting for the patches is always wise. Microsoft telling Playstation players "you have no choice but to wait for the patches!" isn't the world beating argument for owning an Xbox (or gaming PC) they think it is.
I think this will be out early May (6 months after the Xbox launch) that's late spring. Due to the IP I think it will sell pretty well on PS. I'll be playing this on game pass as I have the luxury to afford all the main home consoles.
@MeanBeanEgg Dude, imagine not playing so many amazing games just because it's first person only lol
Not talking about just Indiana Jones that we don't even know yet if it's good. But I couldn't imagine myself not playing Half Life, Portal, Black Mesa, Bioshock, Killzone, Bordelands, Metro, System Shock, RE Village, RE7, Wolfenstein, Outlast, Amnesia, Left For Dead, classic CODs, Medal of Honor etc.
@Danloki Most people here and on PS5 sub reddit are just a little more bitter when it comes to games that are not from Sony.
The talking would be completely different if this game was a PS5 exclusive. It's not about being first person or not, that it's just a simple excuse, it's about where the game is coming from.
@LN78 Game Pass is not a factor when counting sales. Stalker 2 sold a million copies despite being on GP day 1
@cburg obviously MS doesn’t want the media to cover that. but check on Amazon. Only 1000 copies sold and it’s not even on the top 20 chart. Also the game is on #26 on Steam wishlist, while Marvel Rivals is #6 on most wishlisted. There is also a review embargo for Indy that comes out next week, which is why we haven’t seen any early reviews at all.
@Savage_Joe See my reply at #31. If you believe ganepass is "not a factor" then I have a bridge for sale that you might be interested in. 🤣. I think you'll find the review embargo you mentioned is probably also a factor for low pre-orders. People had a reasonable idea of what to expect with "Stalker 2". This "Indy" game is coming in as a pretty much unknown quantity, especially for people who haven't already played the excellent "Riddick" games from a few years back. Your "not missing anything" statement could be true but before the reviews cone out it just reads like bitter fanboyism.
