Multiplayer Mil-Sim Arma Reforger Has Finally Arrived on PS5

The Cold War is about to get much hotter

Making the legendary military simulation series's debut on PlayStation, Arma Reforger is now available on PS5. Boasting large-scale, combined arms warfare powered by the new Enfusion Engine, fans of the old Battlefield games and the excellent Hell Let Loose will want to check this out.

Originally launching in Steam's Early Access in 2022, Reforger was fully released on Xbox Series and PC in 2023, so we hope it's pretty stable by now. In addition to open-world multiplayer warfare across land, air, and sea, the Arma Platform allows players to create and share user-made scenarios, which should allow the game to flourish for years to come.

Bohemia Interactive has been the shepherd of the very PC-centric Arma series since it began back in 2006. Still, PlayStation players are likely familiar with its other pillar, DayZ, which began life as an Arma mod and (after recruiting the creator) was made a very successful, emergent survival game.

Would love to know how this runs, given that Arma games run at 3fps on a nuclear powered PC.

Guess that game engine was mentioned because that makes it better optimised for console.

This ahould be pretty good with a group of friends. I loved OP flashpoint with some buddies back in the day. Just need some friends now 😂

Someone knowledgeable help me out here.

I am totally unfamiliar with ARMA. All I know is it’s a pc game (until now). What type of game is this? Is it a story driven, mission focused campaign type of thing, or is it more of a free for all PubG type experience? I couldn’t quite tell from the trailer, but want to avoid looking at too much footage in case of spoilers (if there is a story).

Arma Reforger is primarily focused on multiplayer. Both the Conflict and Game Master game modes are multiplayer, and the Combat Ops game mode can be played either as a single-player or cooperative scenario.
Arma Reforger will not get an official, single-player campaign. However, it is possible to create single-player scenarios and upload them to the Workshop, and there are already several such scenarios available.

@torquex thanks Torquex, that explains it at least a little bit more. I get the feeling it’s predominantly multiplayer from the faq info. Probably not for me, but maybe I’ll try it to see what all the hub bub is about anyway. ‘Tanks’ again (see what I did there?)
