PS Plus Members Get Free Cosmetics for Marvel Rivals on PS5

Marvel Rivals may be a free-to-play game available on most modern platforms, but Sony wants you to play it on the PS5. As part of a PS Blog post, it’s announced a slew of added incentives for those playing on the current PlayStation console.

Perhaps most notable of all, PS Plus members will get a free cosmetics pack for Peni Parker, inspired by the VEN#M suit first seen in 2018’s comic book, Spider-Geddon. The pack will include a skin, name card, spray, and pose. You’ll also get some Season Pass tokens to boost your progress.

Don’t worry if you’re not a PS Plus subscriber, as you’ll still be able to purchase the pack in-game if you prefer.

One thing you won’t need to purchase is the PS5 exclusive Scarlet Spider skin for Spider-Man, which was announced previously. Given Sony’s long-running relationship with the web-slinger, it’s no real surprise PlayStation owners are getting an added extra there.

The title will also support PS5 Pro, utilising PSSR to boost the image quality in both 60fps and 120fps modes. On the base PS5, the game will run in 1440p at 60fps, but Sony’s supercharged system will upscale that resolution closer to 4K. It’ll also add in Lumen Reflections for improved lighting effects throughout.

And finally, yes, the game will take full advantage of the DualSense controller, incorporating haptic feedback and the pad’s adaptive triggers to make each superhero feel unique.

As games become more ubiquitous across platforms, these console specific advantages are becoming an important point of differentiation for manufacturers. They may not mean much individually, but when added together, it’s clear Marvel Rivals will feel right at home on the PS5.
