SNK has named an internal development unit KOF Studio, and tasked it with “revolutionising” the legacy of its storied fighting game franchises. Said series include the likes of King of Fighters (of course), Samurai Shodown, and Fatal Fury.
“SNK fighting games have thrilled and delighted fans worldwide ever since their landmark debut in the 1990s,” an announcement explained. “The 30th anniversary of The King of Fighters brings with it another milestone: the launch of the all-new KOF Studio. KOF Studio will proudly carry on the storied legacy of our iconic fighting game IPs while driving their evolution well into the future.”
There’s no other information aside from a logo, but the blurb concludes that “the dream match never ends”.
In terms of upcoming projects, KOF Studio is currently working on Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves, which is scheduled to release on 24th April, as well as an upcoming RPG adaptation of the Samurai Shodown series.

Sounds like SNK is making a team dedicated just to fighting games while the rest of the company works on other non-fighting stuff. Thats neat I guess.
Let the revolutionizing begin!
As far as current gen fighting games, King of Fighters XV, Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8 have been my go-to ones. Interested to see if the new Fatal Fury can work its way into the rotation. I love some of the previous entries but also didn't click at all with a few.
I can't believe we have Capcom and SNK back.
Anyway, yeah, do that SNK! The Samsho reboot is great, and City of the Wolves looks on point too.
This is gonna be very interesting. Good for SNK.
Well... what is interesting is that this assumes that there will be other studios within the company and they will start to do more than just fighters.
@Nem they already are, there is an action rpg SamSho game in the works. This is a confirmation of their expansion.
Let's bring back those SNK NEO Shmups!!
They should and they should bring it back to 2D but similar to guilty gear style, that's where really shines. SS/KOF I had a lot more personality in their animation
3-D. It loses a lot of character. Software now this where it can help speed up development in creating animations which used to be the biggest painstaking task
@mountain_spider they're getting there. CotW is outstanding.
I really hope they take their fighting games to a new level. I LOVED!!!! Samurai Showdown.
IMO, it is still one of the best fighting games ever! LONG LIVE HANZO!
@LikelySatan can we get a modern day snk vs capcom 2025 game
i want cartoonish style and not 3d, i want street fighter and snk games look like guilty gear graphics.
Because thats how originally they were in the past, and because of their colorful costumes, they don't look well on 3d and making them more realistic.
@twitchtvpat I think that is what they might be building towards with recent crossovers, or at least they're gauging interest.
