Sony has uploaded a new trailer that spotlights some of the biggest PS5 titles currently slated to release in 2025. Watch it above, but the games it focuses on are:
- Ghost of Yotei
- Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
- Monster Hunter Wilds — 28th February
- Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii — 21st February
- Assassin's Creed Shadows — 14th February
- Little Nightmares 3
- Borderlands 4
- DOOM: The Dark Ages
- Mafia: The Old Country
- Hell is Us
- Forever Skies
- Dynasty Warriors: Origins — 17th January
- Civilization VII — 11th February
- Baby Steps
- The Midnight Walk
- Where Winds Meet
Probably the biggest omission is GTA 6, which currently has a target release window of Fall 2025. Even if it does slip to 2026, though, next year is already shaping up to be a cracker. Two major first-party titles in Ghost of Yotei and Death Stranding 2 are already confirmed, and lots of third-party heavy hitters are launching around them.
Do you think the 2025 lineup is already shaping up to be better than this year? Let us know in the comments below.

Where is MGS3elta
Ugh. Where is MGS3: Delta
Wow - almost makes me miss the constant remasters...
For all the talk about Sony having a quiet year in 2024 they have delivered a lot of games.
Astro Bot is the highest rated game this year. Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Silent Hill 2, Black Myth Wukong, Helldivers 2, Stellar Blade are all console exclusives and only the scratch the surface of what has released. All 6 games on the GOTY list at the Game Awards are playable on PlayStation. I'd happily take more years like 2024.
But 2025 looks strong, plenty they didn't include e.g. GTA6, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Lost Soul Aside, Indiana Jones, MGS Δ, Atomfall, Wuchang, Eternal Strands, Silksong... that's a joke.
@Balaam_ Colonel, where the hell is my remake?
Snake, you're in the wrong game!
@TechaNinja you talkin’ da me? 😉
Man none of these games listed sound any good. May The Game Awards announcements save us. (Not likely)
Yes because there will be the psvr2 version of hitman 3, also The Midnight Walk looks pretty cool.
Little Devil Inside and Pragmata, where have you gone?
Ghost of Yotei and Death Stranding 2 are the highlights from that list for me. And Doom, but I’ll honestly probably keep Gamepass this year, given the line-up.
Hopefully they announce some more al exclusives at the game awards. I think we're get something god of war related.
@Balaam_ Exactly my thought, and a PSA for anyone looking at this, if last year was anything to go off this is no guarantee these games are coming out in 2025
@NathanKang
If you are not trolling I think it may be time to consider leaving this hobby behind to concentrate on wood working or model trains...lol...
Fantastic lineup. Maybe I'll get to them before the PS6 drops at this rate!
No judas? Ghost of Yotei and Monster Hunter Wild for me. Maybe death stranding 2 too.
What in the actual F, are Sony's studios doing....
This is getting to be a ridiculous generation on the fp studio front.
@MikeOrator which of these games actually look good enough to justify a day 1 purchase?
Odd that they chose to do this trailer before the Game Awards rather than after.
Last year they did a similar thing and it was the first confirmation that Stellar Blade was going to release on 2024 when a lot of people were saying it wouldn't and it was also the confirmation that Concord was going to release on 2024 LOL.
So basically now we know Ghost of Yotei and Death Stranding are 2025 games guaranteed. This was a strong year for Sony, Helldivers 2 became one of the most important Sony IPs and with The last of us remaster dominated the first half of the year, the final shape is the best Destiny 2 expansion, Horizon remaster is not only the ultimate Horizon ver. is also the jump for Nixxes from pc porting team to dev team, looks like many didn't like LEGO Horizon but I had a great time with it and of course Astro Bot came out of nowhere and stole everyone hearts. All of that in a quiet year.
Need more gift cards this holiday season.
@NathanKang almost all of them if you have the money.
@KundaliniRising333 dude did you know that Astro Bot was going to release in 2024 BEFORE 2024? lol
@KundaliniRising333
Totally agree, I think on that list was Ghost of Y, the only big AAA Sony studio game.
I think Xbox studios will release more for PS5 next year than Sonys own studios.
Indy
Doom
COD
TO NAME 3.
@GymratAmarillo Astrobot was just more ASTRO bot. If it's not your thing, it really doesn't matter how well that thing is crafted. As I've matured, that type of game is 100% not my thing, and despite its hype and acclaim, I suspect that is the case with a lot of others.
Despite individual tastes, I still don't get your point. 2024 was a terrible year on the Fp front and was largely carried by elden ring dlc, a few good and many OK third party games, albeit most of which released technically unfinished.
Astrobot of all things did not somehow make it some banger year from Sonys studios even if I was into that type/tone of game at this stage of my life.
@OldGamer999 agreed. I genuinely wonder now if perhaps a great deal more of what Sony was cooking on the fp front had to be canceled and rebooted as the gamer audience continues to reject like 90% of new live service schemes. It's pretty insane to me that we still don't know what most of their Studios are even working on 2/3 into this generation.
@KundaliniRising333 if you like the games or not or what you think about them doesn't really matter. Before 2024 started there was only 2 first party game confirmed for 2024, the year ended with 6, that's the point.
@GymratAmarillo I think you are confusing first party with exclusive/timed exclusive...
On the first party front last year we got Astrobot and a terrible friggin Lego game...
@KundaliniRising333 “I genuinely wonder now if perhaps a great deal more of what Sony was cooking on the fp front had to be canceled and rebooted as the gamer audience continues to reject like 90% of new live service schemes”
It’s only now that you wonder that… hmm 🤔
Hope we get a in-depth gameplay trailer for the new Mafia title at TGA. Apart from that the new MH game should be a shoe-in if they take care to optimise it before release.
'Probably the biggest omission is GTA 6'
No, that's multiplatform and Sony can't influence the release date. The biggest omission is Wolverine. I was hoping they'd reveal it's out next year.
@KundaliniRising333
All of them Sony IPs, all of them made under the PS Studios administration and more than "timed exclusives". That without counting Destiny the Final Shape that is an expansion not a full game, all of that in a year they told you from the beginning was going to be quiet lol.
And once again it doesn't really matter if you like the games or not, it's still a product that took time and work.
@GymratAmarillo wow, I can't even bring myself to respond to that list, as it seems your being serious in suggesting that's a strong slate of releases. There is clearly no sense in continuing this discussion with you . Have a good one and I'm glad you are satisfied with that 👍
I’m really looking forward to AC. I wish they had gone with a more traditional samurai though. Such a wasted opportunity
@KundaliniRising333 of course you don't, before release you were talking about how Helldivers 2 was a "generic game" and it became not only one of the most important IPs in Sony history but also one of the most important games of the year. As a long time Helldivers fan that game alone makes me satisfied LOL.
I also wish you a good day 😁.
@KundaliniRising333
I mean I’m ok have all three consoles now.
But this definitely is not the PS4 days from Sony and plenty of remasters are us, etc.
GTA6 and KCD2 are all I need.
@riceNpea Sony can't influence the release dates of the vast majority of the games in the trailer either?
Ill take the two walking games and LAD. Where they hell is pragmata?
Thank god KCD2 is coming out in february!
It’ll be 2025 and Naughty Dog still hasn’t announced their next title. I know it’s coming but just realized it’s been over 4 years now since the PS5 launched. Had two nice remakes but I’ve been anxiously waiting to hear about their next game.
Also Jade Ramond’s Haven Studios, I haven’t heard anything about them in a long time. I really hope their games succeeds.
@NathanKang
Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii for a start.
It's hilarious how many major releases there are in February. How did this even happen?
@LiamCroft yes I agree, my point exactly. That's why Wolverine is the biggest omission.
Ghost of Yotei is all I care about next year. No rush to get GTA 6, will probably be another game they'll milk for 3 generations.
Expedition 33
Tails of Iron 2
Instinction
Snake Eater Remake I presume is out next year now
Jedi Power Battles Remaster
Lost Soul Aside (I hope)
Pragmata ( I hope)
My wallet is already crying, 2025 is absolutely STACKED for games.
@KundaliniRising333 You say “as you’ve matured” and “in this stage of your life”. What do you mean by that? What stage in your life are you if i may ask?
I mean everyone has its own taste and thats fine, but are you implying that games like Astro Bot or Mario or whatever aren’t really for adults? Or that somehow maturity has something to do with liking these games? Is it the aesthetics of the games? Like realistic graphics is more for mature people? Or is it the gameplay?
Genuinely curious, since I’ve heard you say that before.
@T-Bone09 People have been saying that Naughty Dog hasnt announced their next project for at least 2 years now.
But you do realize they released The Last of us 2 in 2020 right? Thats 4 years ago. Im always confused why there’s this big pressure on Naught Dog to announce something when most big developers take at least 4 or 5 years to release a game after their last one.
@KundaliniRising333 How about you list all the first party games from the first 4 years of the PS4(and any other PlayStation) and we'll see how your nostalgia actually compares to reality when it's laid bare.
The reality is the first 4 years of the PS5 are stronger than the first 4 years of PS4.
Baby steps???? WTF.
Ghost of Yotei is day one purchase... besides that... doom but maybe when it goes on sale.
Last year I was only interested in Stellar blade and turned out that it was a great year at least for me... let's hope 2025 is as good as 2024 has been.
@riceNpea Wolverine is targeting a 2026 release and Venom: Lethal Protector is targeting 2025. This is from their leaked internal documents.
@LogicStrikesAgain The best way I describe it is something like a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich. You may or may not like it when younger and then feel the opposite as you age. I assume you're asking this to see if there's an angle to have a rebuttal or argue this notion but this really can't be that surprising a take can it?
I mean you look at a game like astrobot or yes even Mario and you're telling me you can't fathom that there are certain Gamers that just find that those games as they grow older to be too simplistic whether that be on the gameplay front story front or yes even visually in terms of art style. whatever the reasoning, this is not that crazy a take to have.
I'm glad you may or may not like it, however I would hope that if you set your personal biases aside you can see how a game like astrobot or let's say Lego Horizon, or Pokémon, or even many jrpg games may have gamers that either love it or don't and that sentiment could have changed as ones tastes evolve over time.
Lots of multiplatform games and even PS4 games. Nice.
Ofcourse i understand there are people that arent into these kinds of games, i dont think i ever argued anything against that, nor that taste can change over time.
I just think that “being in a certain stage of your life” has nothing to do with it, thats all. You can like these games or not. Doesnt have anything to do with age. I think you also realize there are many adults who like these types of games.
But i’ll leave it there, cause im not really looking for an argument as you say, was only curious. You can like whatever you like, i wont ever judge anyone on that. 😉
It does for me, I prefer a more mature theme/game, astrobot, lego, mario and games similar to these are not mature adult themed games.
Ghost of Yotei is the only day one for me, actually is the only one from that list that interest me. I really hope we get a few surprises next year, I'm very curious about what Bluepoint is working on.
@torquex I’m saying inherently its not got anything to do with age. It’s your personal preference. The fact that many adults like these types of games is proof that age isnt a factor.
Age might influence someone’s preferences, but It’s not a universal rule that as you grow older, you outgrow certain games.
Yes I agree with this sentiment and it's definitely each to their own choice/preference. I actually had quality time with my daughter on the sega master system and road rash? I think it was called, and sonic lol.
@MikeOrator yeah that one looks good. Not for full price tho
@torquex Thats nice bro. Always good to have some father daughter quality time!
Funnily enough my tastes have actually changed a bit from liking more mature themes, to things like Astro Bot . Not that i dont like mature themes anymore, i just feel like i need to balance it out with something a bit less intense once in a while lol
I wish they would focus on JRPGS more. Atelier Yuma, Phantom Brave and Trails of Daybreak are all coming out early 2025 and need more attention.
@NathanKang
Not worth the full price? NOT WORTH THE FULL PRICE??!??!? I paid twice as much just to get a $2 6" acrylic statue, a silk flag, an eyepatch and a doubloon.
@Meowmixes98
I may have to pick up Atelier Yuma. I haven't played any of the Atelier games in full (tried some on the PS+ but they were old) but this one looks really fun!
@LogicStrikesAgain
As I mentioned they made two remasters. They have two dev teams. It’s ok to want to see what they’re cooking. It would be nice to see a trailer in 2025 or a timeline.
During PS3 era they released Uncharted in late 2007, Uncharted 2 was in 2009, and 3 came out in 2011. Last of Us was released in 2013
During PS4 era Last of Us released in 2014 Uncharted 4 came out in 2016
Last of Us 2 2020
That’s the last original titles.
PS5 had two remasters 2022 and 2024.
So of course people are eager to see a new title.
Trust me I know the whole dev timeline has prolonged to over 4-6 years. I get it and I understand the Factions 2 was dropped. But a lot of people weren’t expecting just to have remasters at this point.
@themightyant well yes if you include the '3rd party' games, take those away and this year PS5 has again only one AAA First Party exclusive, this has been going on for years now and next year doesn't look much better.
You could say its currently a 3rd party games playing console with the once a year AAA First Party exclusive.
@Rog-X My whole point is should it really matter WHO makes the games as long as they are good and on whatever system we have. Who makes a game doesn't really matter one bit.
But i'm not sure you are right that they have only one AAA First Party exclusive for years this year was Astro and Concord (granted the last one failed, but it still released). Last year was SM2. 2022 had at least 4 off the top of my head. GoW: Ragnarok, Horizon: FW, GT7, TLOU Pt1. I'd have to look up before that but wasn't 2020 TLOU2, GoT, SM MM, Demon's Souls, etc? Seems like more than one most years.
@T-Bone09 Dont get me wrong. I definitely want to see something from them. I just feel like this has been going on for a few years now, even as early as 2 years after they released Tlou2, and it seems like they are pressured more than other big developers to show what they’re working on. Taking aside past generations, this generation its hard to see games coming out sooner than 4 or 5 years from most developers.
But yeah, I also hope they show something soon.
@themightyant I’m with you on this one. I really dont understand why people get so hung up with first or third party exclusives. Playstation had like 12 exclusives or something this year alone. But somehow they’re failing or it doesn’t count because it wasnt all first party?
PS1 and PS2 era hardly had any first party exclusives. Just sayin
@LogicStrikesAgain
Yea I understand it sucks being gamers with the waiting game. Back during the launch of the PS3 I only had a few titles and I played the fire out of Resistance:FoM, that was some major fun multiplay with all the different weapons. Motorstorm came out in the last quarter of 06, there was some other games in between. But I had to really wait until 2007 for the onslaught of games to begin.. Warhawk, Folklore, Cod4, and Uncharted etc. The floodgates begin to open. And I say that to say this. PS3 was hard to dev for at first and PS5 it seems like it had a lot of great titles to come out then but the pace has been a lot differently.
This gen had great years but just fewer in between.Obviously it’s not over but I just wish it had a lot more depth. I’d liked have AA first party games instead of like 6 years in the making AAAA first party titles to play until the AAAA games released.
@ChrisDeku I didnt even realize that, but its true. Fun fact, 4 years in, the PS4 only had 3 first party titles with a 90+ Meta score. The PS5 already has 4. Not even counting DLCs, expansions and remasters. Thats not bad, since people are calling this generation so much worse than previous ones.
Edit: Even better if you look at 85+ scores 4 years in, PS4: 4 and PS5: 8. I didnt expect that to be honest. And i know Metacritic scores aren’t everything, but it sure is something.
I guess we really are seeing it through nostalgia tinted lenses.
@LogicStrikesAgain Interesting stats. I think it both shows Sony is doing fine with first party on the PS5 and that memory is fickle. People think there are far more first party games than they are and they think they come far more frequently. They forget that
Making GOOD games is hard and takes time. It isn't a straight line, there are failed ideas and a lot of back and forth in between. They will announce and release things when they are ready. While I can understand wanting more, rushing is the worst thing they can do.
So I care about none of these. They are good just not my thing.
Little Nightmares 3/Reanimal are cool.
Borderlands 4 makes sense.
Doom makes sense.
Forgot what Where Winds Meet was till looking it up.
Midnight Walk vaguely remember but is probably cool.
Forever Skies forget if seen somewhere or not seems fine.
Hell Is Us probably fine.
Not my type of games but are most audiences so good for the rest of you, but I get it for those into the sequels or the other IPs upcoming. Just nothing for me here.
My most excited here are for sure Ghost and DS2! But not on the list for some reason, Clair Obscure looks incredible!!
I am so ready for dynasty warriors origins
@LiamCroft... not only is DeathStranding not a first party game - it's less so now than a month or so ago... Sony doesn't even own the IP anymore, so it's literally just a second party timed-exclusive.
if you disregard remasters, remakes, 2nd party releases, timed exclusives, games that also came out on ps4 and most games are also out on pc.
the list of first party ps5 exclusives is very small
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare Sony is publishing the game, therefore it's first party. The party in this case is Sony. They don't need to dlown every developer who makes the game. Half of Nintendo's first party games are made by external studios. Microsoft flight Sim is made by an external studio.
@ChrisDeku first party means a developer that is owned by the publisher/platform holder. Second party is an external developer that makes a game for the publisher/platform holder (which is the case here). Third party is an external developer that is not aligned at all. So Death Stranding isn't a first party game... Kojima Productions is an independent studio. Up until recently, Sony owned the IP of Death Stranding, so you could say it was 'sort of' first party (it was the same situation as Bloodborne). Kojima however took back ownership from Sony, so at the moment it would seem there's just a timed-exclusivity (and SIE publishes it on PlayStation - and maybe PC). They don't publish it on XBox - which it's now available on. So it definitely isn't first party.
So when you say nintendo first party are external - then they are NOT first party developers. Strictly speaking. At best it depends on the contractual arrangements, and the IP ownership. In Nintendo's case - many devlopers only effectively develop on the Nintendo platform, so it may seem like they're first party, when they aren't actually... it's just a very close relationship. For instance - Game Freak (developer of Pokemon) is second-party, even though that's about as Nintendo as you can get.
@GymratAmarillo to be fair - only 2 of the games you mentioned weren't remasters/remakes of old games. Just saying...
@KundaliniRising333 I also don’t feel too excited about Astrobot for the same reasons. It might be a piece of art, but currently not on my wish list.
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare No it doesn't mean that and it never did. A first party game is a game published by the platform holder. This is modern revisionism in order to cast shade.
All games published by Sony are listed as First Party in their accounts, same as Nintendo and MS. There is no Second party, that doesn't exist in official Video game Accounting language. It's a term someone made up.
First party is published by the platform holder, third party is published by a party that is not the platform holder. That's how it's officially classified. Ownership of assets used to develop products is not a factor.
@ChrisDeku dude... trust me... that's exactly what first party means. The point about first party is that it is OWNED by the publisher/platform holder. It is THEIR goods to sell. Sony doesn't own Kojima... and they don't even publish it (you can literally buy this game on Xbox today - and it's published by 505 games). I appreciate you may not understand the difference... but believe me - you 100% are not correct. Just google it... and you will save yourself a lot of typing. Sony (as a publisher even) do NOT own Kojima Productions, nor do they own the IP to Death Stranding.
Sony owns nothing of Kojima Productions, nor Death Stranding IP... and they don't publish it for XBox (that is another company completely). They had a second party (external) contractual arrangement (that seemingly had an option for Kojima to buy-back it's IP). Sony may well have an agreement with Kojima for x-years exclusivity. This doesn't mean it's first party. Please just research - or explain why you're right. The definitions of first, second and third party developers has been well undertood for decades; it's understood - even if you choose not to understand it.
EDIT - and to be clear - even by your own definition... Sony IS NOT publishing this on XBox. Kojima owns 100% of the game now... Sony is just the marketing arm for DS on PlayStation primarily - they will get a cut while the second party agreement holds. They have a residual contract (likely) with Kojima Productions for DS2; that will be a timed deal. First party is NOT timed. They had exclusivity (and they gave away IP ownership)
It was advertised as an SIE / PlayStation Studios game - when they owned the IP. They do not own it any more. Where does it say it's first party now?
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare
"Trust me dude, I know more than the official classifications used by every major First party developer in this history of video games"
Alright bro, you do you, you read it on the internet so it definitely has to be correct.
@ChrisDeku so... where is Kojima Production defined as a first party studio - where does it say that Sony owns Death Stranding? Stop digging when you're wrong. It's not that hard... and if you're going to respond... at least say something meaningful. I literally explained EXACTLY why it's not first-party.... and you just said that...? You don't agree... explain why.
Edit - generally speaking - first party means that it is within your own organisation. Third-party means it's an independent company. Second party is meant to describe the in-between... they aren't part of your organisation, but they have a contractual obligation. Kojima isn't first party because Sony can't stop them publishing on XBox now... even if they wanted to. Because they are still independent beyond the original contractual agreement - which seems to have lapsed in either case.
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft only list first party and third party sales on their official accounts. Every game published by them is included as a first party sale. Second Party is a casual term people on the internet like to say that has no official meaning, What part of that is hard to understand?
No it doesn’t have anything to do with “making”. Apple don’t have people making IPhones, they contract companies that do that for them, companies that makes chips, companies that assemble phones, companies that make displays for them.
Movies and tv series are made by ad-hoc production teams that are not employed directly by the Studio a lot of the time. The fact those production teams aren’t owned by Disney, say, has no bearing on the classification of the product.
It is about economics. If Sony publishes the game then 100% of the revenue does directly to them. Then they pay others based on contracts. Thats the only thing that defines First Party games. Not ownership of the factors of production. Only sweatlords on the internet obsess over those things, and only in the last few years. No one ever came out to say Smash brothers, Pokemon, Metroid, Kirby, Mario RPgs are not Nintendo first party games because the studios developing them aren’t owned by Nintendo. The obsession with ownership of factors of production is pretty ridiculous, in no other industry on the world do people obsess over corporate ownership of assets as they do in the modern video games industry.
At the end of the day it’s completely irrelavent who owns the shares in the company making the games, it’s only important who’s making games. Sony are funding and overseeing the development of Death Stranding 2, it’s because of them the game exists. Obsessing over the fact that they sold the IP rights to Kojima like that somehow changes the nature of the product or how we should view it is nonsense.
It’s officially a first party game. That’s how it will be listed on Sony Accounts. It will have a PlayStation Studios Splash screen on startup. It will say PlayStation Studios on the box. The reveal trailer says PlayStation Studios at the start of the video before anything else. You can feel free to tell the billion dollar corporation that you and some other dudes on Reddit don’t agree with this classification and tell them about your second party casual terminology and who knows, maybe they’ll change all their official accounting from now on. Good luck.
@ChrisDeku ok... I'll type slow for you.... Sony do NOT publish Death Stranding on XBox. They do NOT get any revenue as a publisher on XBox. They had a very good relationship with Kojima - a contractual relationship - that ended. They provided a lot of financial/technical support - and they had 5 years to recoup that investment. It was timed-exclusivity.
You keep saying it's listed NOW as a first party game... where? Just put the link to a current website that isn't over a month old.
Sigh... it literally says 505 Games on the XBox start-up, because they are the publishers. You understand, things may have changed since the "reveal" trailer... for instance... the exclusivity time window ceased, and Kojima Productions bought back the 100% ownership of the Death Stranding IP. You keep ignoring both of these things; while saying things that don't matter (for instance - the reveal trailer)
You are saying - it only matters who is funding the games... that's not what first party means. It means who owns the games. Sony doesn't own Death Stranding. A lot of platform-holders push money into developers, to ensure they get a good game for their platform. Platform-holders will also want to lock down that income, by timed-exclusivity. It costs more, because the developer is now forfeit-ing possible income. You keep saying things that don't make sense. Death Stranding was funded (even DS2) by Sony... because Sony then took timed exclusivity of it - and will therefore get most commercial benifit from it. They made a commercial gamble. That's what timed-exclusivity means. You pay money to get the biggest profits. It's not that hard.
Edit - and also, not wanting to belabour the point... Sony do NOT get 100% of the profits from DS.. 1 or 2. They have an agreement to cover certain costs (generally) - otherwise, what's the motivation to produce a really good game? Contracts normally cover a baseline return for the publisher - and above that the lion's share goes to the developer (because it incentivises them). It's a win-win.
Edit - for your benefit... Apple is contracting companies to produce components, or to assemble... you don't buy a "Foxconn" phone... you buy an Apple phone. Foxconn can't then (after 5 years) sell an iPhone 15/16/... as an Android phone... because they assembled it (or made it). Becuase they don't own it. Kojima is NOW LITERALLY SELLING THEIR GAME ON XBOX. Because they are the first party now... they own it.. it's theirs... regardless of who supported them (Sony made their money)... that's done.
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare You’re talking completely nonsense with timed exclusivity. Sony are in control over the entire production, they contract the entire studio to make the games and control every facet of that development as per the contract they signed.
Kojima now has the IP rights because he bought them from Sony, they’re not just given away for free. Anything that happens with the game is because Sony allow it, because they were given economic recompense, that’s how business works.
At teh end of the day this is a fact: Sony and Nintendo classify all games they publish as first party, and all games they don’t publish on their platform as third party.
What a dismal lineup...
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare You can go look at the box for Rise of the Ronin too..You’ll see it says Playstation Studios on it, you’ll see it says PlayStations studios when it launches the game. Your opinion can’t overwrite the reality that Sony decides. They classify games that they publish as First Party, that is an fact.
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare So you’re done trying to bend reality to your own opinions? That’s good.
I’m 41 btw, a published academic in the field of Environmental Economics. An ACCA chartered Accountant and the owner of a small business that sells tainwanese tea in the UK. Thanks for asking, lad.
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare rise of the Ronin is the First Party game published by Playstation Studios.
Need Concorde PS5 Pro Remastered Edition.
Is it just for me that videos here on PushSquare aren't working? They seem to be working fine for me on Nintendo Life, so I wonder what's up.
Edit: Now working. Given that Sony is keeping games close to their chest, and that we're about to have what is supposed to be a big TGA, I think this is a pretty good line-up.
@Oz_Who_Dat_Dare just think about this dude. What if the remaster is Bloodborne? What if the remake is Sly?
People would be crazy about it right? But still would be just a remaster/remake. Work is work. The year started with 2 projects and ended with 7 minus 1 that was concord so basically 6 lol.
The only reason why people would make that work less is because they don't like the games and yet they sell ... a lot. TLOU2 remastered was in the top 10 of most sold games the first half of the year.
The best example is Horizon. It may be a remaster but if you haven't played the game in a while is like playing a brand new game, Nixxes put a lot of work in it way beyond of what you would expect from a remaster. They said it's the first of many, all the ps4 juggernauts already have a ps5 ver. I don't know what is next but knowing Nixxes is making it I'm sure exited, there's a lot of PS4 games that didn't sell crazy numbers and deserve a second chance, Bloodborne is one but I don't expect it before the ps6. If they remaster Infamous, any of them, that's a W to me.
@GymratAmarillo I'm sorry... I must have missed what your point was... it's very hard to know what comment you're commenting on. Not being dismissive, but this was a while ago, and there were a lot of backing-and-forthing, so I don't specifically know what you were disagreeing with.
