They’d need to add overly difficult, utterly unnecessary trophies based on tedious, awful VR battles that are as fun as chewing tinfoil. They’d need to add trophies based on forced replays on ridiculous difficulties for a game that already is far too long as it is. Only after driving the trophy list into the ground and pissing off trophy hunters the world over (and subsequently publicly apologizing for it, but lazily not fixing their admitted mistakes) would they make the director of FF7Rebirth proud.

Reminds me of when certain people cried and shouted censorship when Square patched FF7 Remake to cover up a 15 year old Tifa who was previously showing a bit too much giving her age in that part of the game. ZZZ is honestly rather iffy in this regard so i'm not shocked they're now "censoring".

Now that's an interesting take. They usually just add more virtual cloth, replace a g-string w/ running shorts, or yoga shorts, or skorts, whatever, but having the character fade from view, that's an interesting take. I'm not even sure I'd even call that "censorship" as much as game mechanic.

I do suppose if I paid real money for a skin I'd be annoyed but at least they didn't change what you paid for, just how up close you can view it. I think you can get close enough, this isn't a dating sim, it's a fighting game. I've played 98% of the base game. No money though.

I hate this mentality, though I understand it. Both ZZZ and Stellar Blade are actually phenomenal games with very well designed combat mechanics, which is why I bothered playing them. But of course they have good looking female characters, so I'm a pervert by association.

Alright, so it was a quibble. I just think the "it's what it represents" concept can be a little tricky. If a draw a stick figure and label it "naked teenager", it fits the same criteria. Blanket statements are easy to disprove.

I only ever noticed this was possible on iOS, because to close the game you have to swipe up from the bottom which, if done incorrectly, tilts the camera.

I also noticed that they very rarely aren't wearing biker shorts or have used some other method to prevent the upskirting from being an issue. The only one that I think actually is a problem is Burnice, and even then they tried to make her underwear look like a cheerleader's uniform, which I guess they figured was more modest.

They have already done this with most character designs. Only the character Burnice could be considered problematic, AFAIK. Most have biker shorts or more modest things on.

Seems they already fixed it as the fade is really light rather than the character completely disappearing in that one video, and you need to get to a really low angle to activate it. That already addresses my concern that the camera could be a hassle when using the 3D models as an art reference. It's very workable.

I’m just saying that I looked at the characters after all this pedo talk, and they are split between looking like children (4 or 5), and the quite obviously buxom sexpots. Welp got to finally try it for myself and the reaction is overblown. You can't pan the camera all the way down without it fading. But if you move it mere centimeters the character is back in full view and you are literally still looking under burnices skirt. What a nothing burger man...

@DonJorginho I addressed him specifically because he's been exclusively pro-censorship for several articles in the past on Nintendo Life. But I understand that doesn't necessarily translate to this specific article and don't need keep harping on about it.
I also understand that many people here find the content that's been altered distasteful, myself too to a certain extent, it can essentially be viewed as fetish content, but that's not a reason to parade its removal.
Censorship doesn't just come for the worst of stuff, it starts at the bottom and keeps working its way to the top. This should be treated with zero tolerance, we shouldn't be choosey about what's allowed to stay and what should go based off our individual sensibilities.

There's going to come a day when all the people here championing the removal of gooner content are going to start seeing things censored out of media that they personally care about (like with Nessionett and the Disney situation) and find it appalling. Which is why I criticize that mentality now because they're ultimately bringing it upon themselves.
That may sound dramatic but this kind of thing comes in waves, we've been horseshoeing ourselves back into puritanism for the last several years. And not only is that a bad thing for video games, I also certainly do not like what certain people who call the shots consider pure rn, I'm willing to bet a lot of selectively pro-censorship people here won't either.

@symmetrian No, for sure. I didn't play ZZZ, but I played the SB demo, and can see that it's actually a decent game at the core. It's precisely the people who want to seemingly use these games as an outlet for their fantasies, and then complain about not being able to see pants that I find a bit... dubious.

As you say- if that's what you want, there are plenty of other (free) ways to get it. But people paying for costumes, just to look at pixel pants, and then getting upset that you can't perv on the character anymore... I'd say it's time to turn that camera inwards, and reflect on some things, haha.
