A script-measuring conflict is currently raging between two European RPG super powers, and we weren't expecting an update to our earlier, essential reporting; Warhorse Studios, the Czech team behind the imminent Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, has thrown down the gauntlet, announcing the game's script is, in fact, half a million words longer than initially suggested. It's looking like the Belgium-based Larian Studios' wonderful Baldur's Gate 3 is about to lose its crown (and Guinness World Record).
On X, Warhorse fanned the flames (thanks, GamesRadar+), noting that KC: DII's script is actually over 2.2 million words long, requiring protagonist Henry of Skallitz actor Tom McKay to spend more than 500 hours recording VO. Larian Studios' publishing director, Michael Douse, gallantly welcomed the competition, writing: "I hope they do [beat the Guinness record]! Cannot wait for KC: DII."
RPG fans won't have much longer to wait to get their hands on Warhorse's massive game, which arrives on PS5 on 4th February and, by all accounts, looks set to join BG3 as a landmark title. Let us know what you think in the comments section below.

Im all for value for money, but this just sounds a bit too much - 500 hours for the main character! (How much of that is actually used though? - I suppose it depends on how good his Deliverence of the lines was...)
How do you just miss 500000 words? That's not a rounding error lmao. Such a stupid promotion tactic.
It actually kind of turns me off of playing it tbh, one of the things that’s got me sick of open world games and massive RPGs lately is the amount of filler content. There’s no way all of this is impactful to the experience. Give me smaller, tighter games that are well-crafted head to toe. I want an emphasis on solid mechanics, not how big your map is or how many words you recorded for it.
@commentlife I’m with you. Bigger isn’t usually better. It reminds me of when every successive Just Cause game boasted about a larger and larger game world when it just felt empty. I prefer density and quality over quantity.
They're really hyping this up like crazy, hopefully it delivers.
@commentlife The game has multiple outcomes for everything and its a huge Medieval RPG sim so it was always going to be pretty big especially as dialogue plays a bigger role in KC then combat.
I can't wait to play!!
Great, what's the point when you don't actually see the half of it...and maybe skip another third xD
I did find the dialogue in the first game pretty wooden; especially the protagonist. Whereas BG3 seems a vastly more polished game with better voice-acting. With any luck KCD2 will be better though.
Hasn't this already been covered?
If you can find half a million words in a week, you weren't counting properly in the first place.
Damn, i'm so excited!
It's time to come clean with you guys... all those books and scrolls and stuff I found in Skyrim, I didn't really read them. I just skimmed them, at best. I'm sorry!
@themightyant Just Cause 3 was horrible for that. at least 50-60% of that map was empty space.
@deadfred77 I don't really think the dialogues in BG3 are that great as much as the Voice Actors reciting those lines are doing excellent work.
@ATaco I see what you did there
Daniel Vavra can happily relax and say "I wrote Mafia 1, Mafia 2, KCD and KCD2, what have you done?" It's a strong resume.
So weird that there's doubters to quality 😅
This constant talk about quantity in games is so tiresome and depressing.
As good as KC2 will be or BG3 was, both are hours way too long (The latter at least 20-40).
Watching the previews I can see y there's so many dialogue changes depending on many things u do or don't do it's pretty wild
@Northern_munkey This in an update.
Now imagine looking at the pages and the font is 80. 🤣
Haha! Just joking. That is a lot of work.
They really wasted all off this paper for a picture? For all of these dialogues and lore that could be generated by ChatGPT? Not a great way to promote a game imho.
