According to GamesRadar+, it's been over 1,000 days since we last had a tangible word of Kingdom Hearts IV, and we're inclined to believe it's been that long (this is Square Enix we're talking about). Thankfully, it's the 15th anniversary of Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep's PSP release, and director Tetsuya Nomura has vaguely alluded to the next mainline release, suggesting the story has at least been done for some years.
In a post on X, Nomura touched on many topics, largely relating to the motif of the crossroads and the idea that a heavy price must be paid to gain something of import, themes which have been ever-present throughout the Kingdom Hearts series. Nomura teases the implications of Kingdom Hearts 3's epilogue: "But wait... when the Lost Masters gather at the crossroads in KH3, what is gained and what is lost? That's a story for another time."
