Job Listing Confirms Sony Has Established an Internal AAA Studio in LA

I hope they're making the long-awaited sequel to Philosoma!

I know that most people here don't know what that is, but what would you prefer, another damn Concord joke?

@HotGoomba I remember Philosoma. Early PS1 shooter that was basically what I call a "cinematic shmup," like Silpheed. It did the thing where the backgrounds are fmv but stylized to look like they're real-time.
Edit: I just watched some videos, and I am wrong. Philosoma just switched from pre-rendered to real-time a bunch. Weird I remembered that differently.

How many years has it been since that secret san Diego studio was supposedly working on Uncharted 5??

I'm still waiting!! Sony should have snagged up Tomb Raider for the pennies it sold for and just made some Tomb Raider games while they let Uncharted rest.

@Stragen8 Sony has a strategy to never compete with themselves. And Tomb Raider is to much like Uncharted overall so that wouldn't Sony even consider to do. Just like they canned Days Gone (*****) as it was "too like Last Of Us games"...

@Zeke68 uncharted is too much like tomb raider you mean. However I prefer the uncharted series as the story's and characters were much more interesting to me. I get your point though but I think it's going to be difficult to create anything that's going to be original enough to stand out from the crowd. Every genre is bursting at the seams these days. Will be interesting that's for sure.

@Zeke68 Don't make up crap. Bend Studio management rejected the sequel idea not Playstation management. The game wasn't even a massive commercial success since the high volume sales came from massive discounts. It was a critical disappointment to boot (unfairly imo)

Hm, lets hope that new studio is not up in flames already... literally speaking I'm afraid. Gruesome scenes in LA this week.

In addition, last we heard, Sony's secret San Diego team was still working on "existing franchises" and was even partnering with Naughty Dog.

This team was working on the Last of Us Remake before it got moved over to be an internal Naughty Dog project. All these guys got let go I believe.

Making a quick search, the dude who said first he joined PlayStation and was working under Blundell lives in LA so there is a big chance is that studio.

Always nice to see new studios getting made.... whether or not they make great games is to be seen..

Still hoping against hope that San Diego studio relaunch ModNation Racers.
However that would require Fony to switch on a server for the online content sharing and we know their attitude about that when looking at LBP...

It's clear Sony is on a budget here otherwise they would open an AAAA studio

@breakneck Bend DID want to do Days Gone 2!! WTf are you on about, they rejected to make an Uncharted game so they are now making an original I.P instead as Sony didn't want the DG2 game the pitched.

@Northern_munkey I see how you mean, but no, I still think TR is to much like modern Uncharted. Tomb Raider back in my youth was completley different as I see it. Now it's just a "wanna be uncharted".
