Hideo Kojima's apparent fusion of filmmaking and game development, Physint, is just one of the casualties of the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strikes, which, incredibly, began in August 2024 and will continue in 2025. Kojima is hopeful casting can resume this year, and OD, which the auteur is developing for Xbox Game Studios, has also been affected by the strike.
Kojima himself provided the update in a lengthy New Year's Eve post on X, recalling that 2024 was a year with both ups and downs for the developer. Progress was made on Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, and the relentlessly energetic Kojima wrote essays for Japanese publications anan and Nikkei, appeared on the radio, as well as organised the "Hidemys"; Hideo's take on the Emmy Awards, we suppose, except for books published in Japan.
HideoTube continues, and preparations for the live-action Death Stranding film with A24 got underway. Of course, Kojima continued to expertly comment on films and books via social media, regularly announcing the latest celebrity to be scanned into his growing menagerie.
Do you think we will be hearing more about delays caused by the ongoing actors strike in 2025? Are you looking forward to Physint, whenever it releases? Let us know in the comments section below.

Wait, there's another ongoing actors strike? I thought it was already settled.
@PuppetMaster I was about to ask the same thing. I understand why they do it, but it just seems like they never seem to end anymore…
My reaction is the same as the two users above me. I also thought the strike was settled.
I’ll work for free, Mr. Kojima. Sub me in, Coach!
Hopefully it's not like the other industry strikes in the UK where a weak government gives into the demands then the greedy unions just demand more. Gotta break the cycle somehow...
I can’t wait for this trio of games from Mr. Kojima. Hopefully production goes smoothly and we see all four of his projects release by the end of the decade (with Death Stranding coming this year).
Also, jeez, with how many strikes are happening, hopefully fair pay gets established over the course of 2025. Hopefully this is the year the economy mends the lives of working people after a harsh 2024.
