Gran Turismo 7 has been updated in the last 24 hours on PS5 and PS4, adding another monthly cycle of cars and events, as well as general updates. The patch brings the Polyphony Digital racer up to version number 1.55 and is available to download now. You can get a visual feel for what's in store in the trailer above.
The four new cars included in the free January 2025 update are:
- Gran Turismo F3500-A
- Honda Civic Si Extra (EF) '87
- Hyundai IONIQ 5 N '24
- Toyota C-HR S '18
In addition, there are three new race events to compete in under the World Circuits tab, and another Menu to finish in the GT Café. The game's high-level AI system GT Sophy has also been expanded to be compatible with a further two tracks: Autódromo de Interlagos and Mount Panorama Circuit.
Have you had chance yet to test these four new cars out on the track? Let us know in the comments below.

As someone who only plays GT7 for the multiplayer sport mode the new car updates are a bit meh to be honest.
I suppose the new tracks for Sophy AI are good for practice purposes as it's actually quite challenging on its hardest difficulty so I guess there is that at least.
512 out of 523 cars and I’ve never played online or spent anything on MTX (just the 12M plus ones left). GT7 is worth it for VR mode alone (I haven’t played non-VR since I got it).
@DrVenture69 Completely agree 100%. Was on the fence for a good time, got it, lost my marbles. Told my wife, "even on a controller, this, this is the way to play". A month later she got me a gt lite cockpit, and I got the new T598 DAD wheel. Go team Venture!
DrSimtheorist is my PSN. Add me and I'll crush you with my Monarch Mobile
@DrVenture69 how many hours have you played?
3 years and 800 hours and never been even slightly tempted to purchase MTX, fantastic value for money that 70 quid was 3 years ago
The gift that keeps on giving. Great game.
One of the very rare live service video games that have got it right
@DrSimtheorist the Monach Mobile is definitely going to beat my Walking Eye
@themightyant OMG, 758 hours! . Wowsa. I spent a few months grinding the Sarthe Touring Car 700 (30 mins per race) each lunch break, which is huge fun with the BMW VGT as it’s like you’re sat on the roof (no cockpit model for VR)
@DrVenture69 Glad you had fun dude, that's the most important thing. GT7 VR is amazing.
But the reason I asked is because this is the thing with live services and in-game store rates you can usually pay with EITHER your money or your time. If you are having fun that isn't a big problem, but neither do I think it's something to celebrate that you can get almost all the cars... but it takes many hundreds of hours to do so.
The model is deliberately designed to get many people to pay.
@DrVenture69 same, i only play in VR. Tried playing it on TV once and it was just a totally different game to me. Love it as a VR title
@themightyant That grind has been present since the original GT though. I prefer this model than say Forza Horizon (that hands you super cars after an hour or so) as it gives a sense of progression.
That said, I had over 100 cars in my garage after 50 hours play. A new car every half hour is great.
@themightyant I can't obviously give a definitive answer but the folks I know who play GT7 have not purchased game credits.
I have 38 million credits just from playing multiplayer races and selling daily roulette cars I have won but don't want. I am never going to spend them as there is nothing I personally want.
It is amusing how bizarre the selection of cars in these updates are. Kaz has said that Gran Turismo is about car culture and the love of cars... Just we were all expecting the focus to be on cars that people actually want, not some random jank like the Honda C-HR S! Like... Damn! If I drove one of those down to the local car meet, everyone would assume I'd got lost on my way to the grocery store!
@themightyant youre absolutely right, if i wanted a 20M car it would take me a month of doing that race every day for 30 mins. I bet there are tonnes of people who buy credits, get the car, then never use it! That race is so much fun when it starts raining heavily and everyone is on the wrong tyres. Its like Spa F1 in ‘97 😂
Forza Horizon coming to PlayStation in the spring.
You’re able to wish list it now.
Really wish they'd do a considerable update. Yet again the races are short. Only take 20 mins then you're back at 100% complete.
@DrSimtheorist i literally just remembered ive got a tricked-out burnt orange Dodge Charger! “Adrienne, her name is Adrienne”!😂
