PS Plus Essential January 2025

Sony has today confirmed the first PS Plus Essential lineup of 2025, bringing another three PS5, PS4 games to the base tier of its subscription service. Available to download and play from Tuesday, 7th January 2025, the titles are as follows:

Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League obviously has its fair share of critics, but PS5 owners may be interested to finally give the title a go now it's included with their subscription.

"Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League is a complicated game," we wrote in our 6/10 review. "It's tough not to think about what could have been if Rocksteady opted for another traditional single player title — especially since the split personalities at this game's heart stop it from reaching the heights of the developer's previous works. That said, despite all of our complaints, we can't deny that the game's fun.

The other games in this month's lineup are pure quality, though. "Once the element of surprise is gone, there's little reason to return — but while it lasts, this is easily among gaming's most unique and memorable journeys," we wrote of The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe in our 9/10 review.

We were similarly praiseworthy of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered in our 8/10 review: "Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered brings back a fantastic arcade racing game, and is still brilliant fun 10 years down the line. Autolog feels right at home in 2020, and the over-the-top cops vs. racers gameplay is a blast."
