Sony has announced some of its current PS5 accessories will receive a facelift in the form of a new colourway, painting the likes of the PS Portal, DualSense Edge controller, Pulse Elite headset, and Pulse Explore earbuds in Midnight Black.
Pre-orders for the new variations go live on 16th January 2025, with the accessories themselves all releasing just over a month later on 20th February 2025. You can see what they look like in the trailer above. You can find additional details such as pricing (though the prices seem to be the same as the standard white versions) on the PlayStation Blog.
This PS5 accessories refresh from Sony was rumoured before the end of last year, as leaker BillBil-Kun posted as such along with a report about a Helldivers 2-themed PS5 controller. That's already been revealed, and now so too has Sony's range of PS5 accessories becoming available in Midnight Black.

I've always found black consoles and accessories to look rather boring.
Just my personal opinion but I think they look much more striking in white
The portal in black looks so much neater and nicer. I really have no use for one, but this and the 30th anniversary edition look lovely. Way less chance of getting cheesey dorrito stains all over it, too!

Has anyone here upgraded from the original Pulse headphones to the Pulse Elite? Is it a big difference soundwise? And is it more durable (the cushions on the original Pulse get ugly really quick due to tear)?

I'm gonna stick with all my 30th Anniversary stuff but the black earbuds look pretty cool. Definitely not worth $200 though, I picked up my pair for $120.

Wish I didn't see this I already have the Pulse Elite and it's ugly as sin and this looks so much better.
@Darude84 It's definitely an improvement, though the bar wasn't exactly high to begin with. At least now it has a proper extendable mic so you don't like you're underwater anymore.
@Darude84 the sound is miles better than the normal pulse, and so is the mic, and so is the battery.
But
The very well documented connection issues with the Pulse Elite are so bad I can only recommend you to hard avoid them. Search the many YouTube, Reddit etc etc posts about it. I had two different headsets and sent them both back. You might get lucky with yours if you get them but I can’t stress using anything else enough
DualSense Edge in black looks nice, but I've already preordered DualSense in Chrome Teal color, which also looks very attractive.
Jokes on you, I've had my Midnight Black DualSense for years.

The portal looks nice. I wish they did the ps5 pro in this colour.
Also sort of feels like a bit of a kick in the balls for those looking for a ps5 disc drive… Come on Sony sort yourselves out.
@Jrs1 AliExpress. I bought some black plates for £18. Never purchased anything on AliExpress before, but they arrived within 10 days, pristine and awesome. I was really, really impressed.

That Edge looks fantastic but obviously I'm really happy with my 30th Anniversary one. Tempted to sell my white Portal and trade up to that black beauty however.

I have three Dual Sense controllers. Sure would be swell if there were more options, with a more practical feature set. I don't need haptics and gyro if I am playing ohhhhhh 90% of the games I own. Most of them don't use any of it. I have about ten Switch controllers of various functionality. That probably added up to me spending more anyway, and more of us get to play games together.
But Sony thinks they're Apple now. DS 2 will probably have a glass back...
They are 5 years late...
Let's hope Sony learned how to apply grips to their PRO controller. The grips on my Edge started peeling off conveniently just after the warranty period passed. Checking online revealed this to be a widespread issue.

@Darude84 I upgraded just before Christmas but ended up returning them, unfortunately. They kept disconnecting, and I've never had that issue with my original ones. When I searched for the issue, it appeared to be quite common.
Would be perfect with coloured buttons.
