Update []:
In addition to the new gameplay trailer, EA and Hazelight Studios have confirmed Split Fiction has gone gold:
This development milestone essentially means the game is ready to rock, and the team will presumably spend the rest of the time between now and launch working on additional bug fixes for early patches.
Original Story:
One of the most exciting games coming in the next couple of months is Split Fiction, the next action adventure from the team behind It Takes Two and A Way Out. Publisher EA has just released a new trailer, and it looks just as imaginative and fun as those previous outings.
Playing as young writers Zoe and Mio, this game — playable only in two-player co-op — has you and a friend navigating fantasy and sci-fi realms as you traverse the worlds of each author's stories.
This new trailer delves into some of the co-op mechanics present in the adventure, and what's clear is that this game will be filled with just as much variety and inventiveness as Hazelight Studios' previous efforts.
Whether it's hopping onto futuristic motorbikes and leaping through gravity-bending cityscapes, shapeshifting into fantastical creatures, or bothering a giant sleeping cat, it's crystal clear that variety is top of the agenda.
The studio has doubled down on this with Side Stories, portals you can find in certain spots that take the duo into all-new worlds. It seems the game will be jam-packed with novel mechanics and wildly different settings.
We can't wait to check this one out, and fortunately, there's not too much longer to wait. Split Fiction comes to PS5 on 6th March 2025, with support for the Friend Pass system — which means only one person in a duo needs to have bought the game for both to play.

Good stuff, getting a backlog together for my 3yr old for when shes a little bigger, hardly any couch co-op games for ps, looking through the store yesterday and there's a struggle to find any kid friendly games of decent quality, I got so desperate I downloaded Knack, poor kid
It looks absolutely phenomenal...!
For as much as I enjoyed It Takes Two, it was a bit too kiddified, and a little too cutesy too. Split Fiction looks much more my type of game. I cannot wait...!
@PrincessPeach11 Knack 2's co-op is quality to be fair. First one not so much
Probably my most anticipated game this year!
Looks good, but not $50 good. I’ll get it as a rental or maybe $30, feels like it will be short. And it looks digital only.

Shouldn’t there be a bunch of people complaining they’ll never buy an EA game or is that only a sports thing? 🤷🏻♂️ Maybe this will show up on EA Play?
A very rare day one game because the are so few the wife and I can play co-op. It Takes Two gave some of our best gaming memories.
Looks awesome! This’ll be day one for me as well.
Looks really good but just like A Way Out and It Takes Two, I'm not touching a game that forces Co-Op. If it was optional I'd be there day one but I'm not playing a story heavy game Co-Op.
Can't wait to play this with my daughter, looks phenomenal. She is really excited also.
Day 1 for me and my eldest son, loved everything they’ve done so far
Looking forward to this. It Takes Two was great, but my favourite was A Way Out. Loved it. One of those games I never get tired of playing through.
@PrincessPeach11 "hardly any couch co-op games for ps"
Hardly?
"looking through the store yesterday and there's a struggle to find any kid friendly games of decent quality"
At the top of my head:
Hope that helps
@PuppetMaster Don’t forget Contra: Operation Galuga and Streets Of Rage 4. Lovely old school nostalgia!
@AhmadSumadi Streets of Rage 4 is in that list but i forgot about Contra: Operation Galuga which i've tried the demo but i don't like it. I wish Konami remaster Contra: Shattered Soldier and HardCorps Uprising.
This looks really, really good!
@PuppetMaster Thanks, tried a few of these, Sonic mania aswell is good. She loves astros playroom, just shelling out 70 quid for astrobot is a bit much when she can get bored after 5 mins though. We tried plucky squire but hated it, forgot about sackboy and tmnt, will try
@PrincessPeach11 I'm sorry. I skipped the "3 years old daughter" part from your post. I think some of these games are a bit too heavy for 3 years old kid. But some like Sonic Superstars, Lego's, Spyro, Astro, or Sackboy are pretty friendly. But i'm glad i can help a bit 🙏
Co-op only looks like I’ll be playing this with two controls and one hell of a struggle
@PuppetMaster No worries, I'm getting the spyros next sale they're on
So can you really only play this game with two or can you also play this game alone?
This is one of my most anticipated games for 2025. With how good the trailer was, I decided to get It Takes Two and very excited to have another game to play with my bf who isn't into gaming but has really enjoyed It Takes Two.
