In a reminder that some digital battles continue to be waged long after we've logged out, story DLC revealed as part of The Division 2's Year 6 content roadmap has been indefinitely delayed. Considering the current state of Ubisoft, we wouldn't have thought DLC for The Division 2 was very high on the company's list of priorities, and yet, here we are.
An open-ended update was posted on the game's official X account, letting fans of the ageing Tom Clancy shooter know that story DLC for Year 6 will not be happening this year, if at all. While this is sure to come as a disappointment to the 2,000ish people still playing at the time of writing (on PC), we're still reeling from the shock of learning the 2019 title was still being supported. We had just assumed the devs were already fully committed to The Divison 3 at this stage; perhaps they are now.
Did you know The Division 2 was still getting content updates post-COVID, in the increasingly apocalyptic-feeling year 2025? Let us know in the comments section below.

I wouldn't worry too much, I can't imagine many people are still playing 🙂
@ironcrow86 I'm glad I got it on a heavy discount because this game was just boring asf and visually unappealing compared to the first game.
@Nepp67 Never forget though, that absolute woeful interaction with those four players during the E3 reveal - Seriously, who the hell talks like that 😳😄
@ironcrow86 Yeah rewatching that was pretty painful. "I'll get the door" "Brace for PVP" lol. There was one video that made fun of trailers like that which was the "If the Anthem trailer was played by real gamers" and it was spot on.
One of my all-time favorite games. Can't wait for the division 3.
One of my all time favourite games too @SteveJaye, I hope The Division 3 lives up to my expectations.
I love this series. The first game in snowy NYC was my fave out of the two.
@Anke After they redid how stats work on your gear and the ability to take the stats from gear and store it was the best system I’ve ever used especially to keep you playing it. I even used to lead the large raids after joining a community and learning how they work. Doing raids every nights with friends and getting better and better hoping for those badass weapon drops. Damn it’s making me want to go back again haha. Never had so much consistent fun in a multiplayer game.
@ApostateMage I still remember firing up the division 1 shortly after I got my ps4 and was absolutely stunned by the graphics and especially the atmosphere. Walking out from your base to a snowy Christmas NYC was absolutely amazing.
Has it been have story dlc launched previously other than the expansion?
Of so is it playable or is it like destiny 2 and unplayable if missed in a season
@Nepp67 the endgame is where it’s at. Doing those large raids with friends and learning the mechanics of the bosses etc was the best part. I have over 2000 hours into it.
@TheFakulty it’s not like destiny 2. And if you missed a story they cycle back to it eventually and can get the rewards you missed.
@SteveJaye thanks. I did enjoy division games and would probably download it to do any extra content again.
I miss Ubisofts over the top adverts for it games with the fake radio chatter in GR Wildlands especially it always made me chuckle. As for this Division 1 was far better setting shame the game like ones before lied and didn't have half of the places if showed in the trailer you could do to.
In TD 2 they just moved it to the White House and it was boring
I'm sure the 5 people still playing will be disappointed.
It's almost sure that if AC:Shadows flops Ubisoft are done, they are hanging on just about, but march might just be the final nail
Just do a YouTube search on The Division 2 & I imagine you will be surprised about how much current content there is for the game. The game has had a pretty decent update cadence over the past year or so for such an old gane
It has a what was a very loyal core fan base but with this recent announcement I think this might be the straw that breaks the camels back. As you can imagine this news has not been well received to say the least.
I enjoyed both Division games for a long while after launch, and I really hope that Division 3 delivers given all the troubles at Ubisoft.
Just say what you mean! “Ubisoft cancels planned story dlc for division 2”
Bro who is still playing Division 2??
Ubisoft should make division 3, I enjoyed the second game (never play the first), and maybe add offline mode for the third game, plus make the UI less messy, sometime I feels like playing a mobile game while using division 2 menu. The shooting feels good though, so I hope ubisoft didn't abandoned this series.
For clarification that’s the number on Steam, not PC. The Division 2 only launched on Steam in 2023, 4 years after its release. The majority of people on PC would be on the Ubisoft launcher.
Just got back into playing this on my PS5 and had forgotten just how good a game it still is, even by today's standards
Seems a lot of people in this thread are woefully ignorant of the steadfast Division community. I'm not a hardcore player by any stretch, but I turn it on once in a while and always have a blast. There are always tons of people on the servers, too.
The vibe of the first game (snowy NYC) is better by a country mile, but the mechanics and actual combat of Division 2 are superb.
I don’t think Ubisoft survives the year. Calendar year 2025, or year of the snake, not some arbitrary fiscal year.
I mean ok they may survive, Atari is still around somehow, but that’s not the Atari. Look at it.

@ApostateMage I absolutely love The Division 2 and its larger content, but I agree that The Division was the better outing. My brother and I have played both titles through twice together. I'm on my 5th run of D1 and on my 4th run on D2. My brother and I are patiently awaiting for The Division 3 and anticipating the experience whenever it's ready
More bad news for Ubi, I see.
Still gutted that Heartlands was cancelled. A 60fps PS5 patch for The Division 1 would be nice... Xbox got it via FPS Boost.
