Age of Mythology: Retold, from that legendary publisher of video games, Xbox Games Studios, is coming to PS5 on 4th March. The seminal strategy game was initially developed by Ensemble Studios (Age of Empires series, Halo Wars) and released back in 2002. World's Edge and Forgotten Empires revived it in remastered form in 2020.
A classic real-time strategy game, Age of Mythology combines the series' usual town-building, resource management, and tactical combat encounters with a fantastical edge. Players can command one of four factions, each with its distinct playstyle and strategy. In a fun twist, you can employ the various myths and legends from their respective cultures: the Greeks, Egyptians, Norse, and Atlanteans. Retold doesn't include the Tale of the Dragon expansion, which introduced the Chinese pantheon; that's coming as post-launch content.
Pre-orders are now live on the PS Store, and if you're willing to shell out extra, you can get five days of Early Access, in addition to various other extras like expansion access and digital cosmetics.

I hope there is a physical edition planned! I LOVE that game!
@Zuljaras have any of the xbox games ported to PS5 had a regular physical version? (not the Limited Run scams)
@GymratAmarillo I do not know but I am ok with a LRG scam if it means a proper physical edition.
@Zuljaras I'm guessing that's a no, shame. Would be cool to have a Halo box with the ps5 logo on it when the time comes.
I've always wondered how games like this play on a controller. I'd love to get into this but I worry it would be just too difficult without M/K
@ItsAlwaysSunnyyy ...it plays perfectly on XBX with the controller.
@KingPev yes well I obviously haven't played it on the controller, I was essentially saying I'm curious how the controls work, considering I've only played RTS etc on PC before.
Loved AOE2, my Japanese lads would sort anyone out in a hail of arrows. I would have thought this would be a nightmare using a control, but it sounds okay (I’d still like a demo). If it had mouse/keyboard support that would be awesome. I’ve tried mouse/keyboard using a usb hub and it works fine, but I’ve not seen anything that supports mouse aiming yet
“from that legendary publisher of video games, Xbox Games Studios”
🤣
@ItsAlwaysSunnyyy works really well on controller
Just an observation considering the talk about Xbox games on PS. I went on the store last night and saw Forza Horizon has appeared and I was a bit taken aback lol
@Mikey856 It is like when I first played a Sega game on a Nintendo console. Didn't feel right, almost alien lol.
@Mikey856 Just wait until we start seeing Halo and Gears of War on there. Crazy times.
Evil monopolist MS strikes again!)
Awesome news for all rts lovers on PS!
Yet another reason to box up my xBox, it already plays great on console so I'm definitely getting this for PS5.
Hoping aoe 2 releases soon
@GymratAmarillo Other than Sea of Thieves, they've mostly been smaller games so far. It will be interesting to see if Doom or Forza Horizon 5 get proper boxed releases.
@Lysterao if i have to bet I would say doom has the biggest chance because is a new game but it's true that Forza is the biggest game they have ported to ps5 yet so that could also mean something.
If they announce a collection of Gears I would also think it has a big chance because as far as I understand there isn't a collection of gears for pc so it would also be "new".
I say that is a shame for Halo because the MC collection has been out there for 10 years or so on xbox and pc so de chances are very small outside companies like LR.
@JohnnyShoulder @Jey887 ikr it’s going to be mad lol
@Lysterao doom will do I'm sure dont know about forza horizon
How does it play with a controller? I've never played an RTS without a Keyboard and Mouse
