Announced just recently in the Capcom Spotlight showcase, the Japanese publisher has now revealed its PS4 remaster of Onimusha 2: Samurai's Destiny will launch on 23rd May 2025. This will be a PS4 version, but it can be played on PS5 via backwards compatibility. Check out the new trailer above.

The remastered sequel arrives more than six years after Capcom gave the original Onimusha: Warlords game the same treatment. It's confirmed the second title will feature "higher resolution graphics and modernised controls", so we're looking at a fairly basic remaster job. Of course, this all builds to the brand new game Onimusha: Way of the Sword releasing for PS5 in 2026.

"This will be a PS4 version, but it can be played on PS5 via backwards compatibility."
I really hope this ends up being true, because as of now on the PS5 the listing for it on the store has the ∅ symbol followed with "Playable on PS4" which is normally only on the NOT backwards compatible titles.
Ngl i kinda wish that all the onimusha games got a remaster as onimusha 3 is the first game in the franchise i played
Most important: Will there be a physical version? @PushSquare could you please start to mention the topic in your articles?
