As with the excellent It Takes Two, you’ll only need to own one copy of Split Fiction to play co-op online with your friends. But developer Hazelight is going one step further this time, allowing you to team up with your buddies regardless of which console you own.
It works like this: you buy the game and your pal downloads the Friend’s Pass. It doesn’t matter which console they own, as once you’ve signed into your EA Account you’ll be able to team up and play through the entire thing. Simple, eh?
There’s one other bonus: if you and your mate download the free Friend’s Pass but neither of you own the full release, you’ll be able to play a couple of levels together free of charge to get a taste for the experience. If you then decide purchase it, you’ll only need to own one copy to play through the entire campaign together.
So, this is extremely generous stuff, then, and the game looks utterly incredible. Will you be playing Split Fiction with your friends or family? Let us know in the comments section below.

That is what you call consumer friendly, great to let you play a couple of levels for free 1st (on any console) shows they have confidence in their game too which is excellent.
I’ll be playing on the couch with my wife so none of this online stuff applies to us but I agree with the article that it all does seem very generous.
Some much needed good news from the gaming industry and even much more needed good reaction from me.😁
Hazelight i one of EAs best developers
But this is EA so you just know that, while they'll let you play with whoever you want for free, they're looking into ways to make you pay a subscription just to have friends.
I'll play any game they release. Haven't missed yet with these co-op focused titles.
Oh hey, a game were requiring an account actually makes sense. How about that.
I'm the same as many others - I'll buy ANYTHING Hazelight release. They are legends! BTW the free second player pass should also work between console & PC, as far as I know.
Why can we still not pre order on PS5? Can buy on steam and Xbox but not PlayStation
