As with the excellent It Takes Two, you’ll only need to own one copy of Split Fiction to play co-op online with your friends. But developer Hazelight is going one step further this time, allowing you to team up with your buddies regardless of which console you own.

It works like this: you buy the game and your pal downloads the Friend’s Pass. It doesn’t matter which console they own, as once you’ve signed into your EA Account you’ll be able to team up and play through the entire thing. Simple, eh?

There’s one other bonus: if you and your mate download the free Friend’s Pass but neither of you own the full release, you’ll be able to play a couple of levels together free of charge to get a taste for the experience. If you then decide purchase it, you’ll only need to own one copy to play through the entire campaign together.

So, this is extremely generous stuff, then, and the game looks utterly incredible. Will you be playing Split Fiction with your friends or family? Let us know in the comments section below.
