Relic Entertainment, the developer behind the Company of Heroes series and many licensed strategy games, has outlined its plans for the future following an amicable split with parent company SEGA last year. Expect a greater focus on publishing smaller titles, as well as some remasters from its back catalogue.
Considering the state of the industry, fans of quality strategy games should be thankful the studio continues to exist. Following its sale, Relic was forced to downsize significantly to survive, although it has the backing of an unnamed "external investor." Company of Heroes 3 will continue to be supported, and the firm will pursue "the development and publishing of smaller-scope, in-house games" alongside the "larger, complex strategy titles the studio is renowned for."
