Great Scott! Back to the Future Co-Creator Says a Brand New Game Is on the Way 1

Bob Gale, co-creator of the beloved Back to the Future franchise, has mentioned that a new video game is in the works.

Speaking in an interview on cleveland.com (paywall), the writer/producer talks about Back to the Future projects in the pipeline, including a game.

"We’ve got a shot at a new video game based on Back to the Future," he says, but unfortunately can't elaborate. "I don’t want to tell you any more than that because I’m not allowed to, but this is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. Knock on wood that it will happen."

He also notes that 2025 is the 40th anniversary of the original movie, teasing "some events" and other projects as part of a celebration.

The last video game conversion for the franchise was Back to the Future: The Game, an episodic narrative adventure from Telltale Games, released on PS3 and PS4.

It's obviously unclear what the mystery game will be like, but hopefully it won't be too long before it comes to light. Perhaps it'll be unveiled as part of the 40th anniversary festivities.
