At some point in the recent past, Helldivers 2 appears to have been improved rather significantly on PS5 Pro — except developer Arrowhead Studios didn't make any kind of official announcement on the subject.
That's according to a new analysis from the eggheads over at Digital Foundry, who say that the co-op shooter has received noticeable boosts to both resolution and performance via a "stealth" update.
When compared to the experience on a base PS5, the game's performance mode boasts "a number of image quality improvements" running on PS5 Pro. A "perceptible jump in image detail" results in better graphics across the board; everything from clearer visuals during hectic gameplay to sharper HUD elements can be seen on Sony's mid-gen system.
And then, as mentioned, there's the resolution itself. Performance mode's 1080p resolution on PS5 is bumped up to 1440p on PS5 Pro, and Digital Foundry reckon that this locked in — it's nothing to do with dynamic resolutions or PSSR.
So, going by this report, Helldivers 2 has received PS5 Pro enhancements, despite the fact that it's not labelled as such on the PS Store — and again, Arrowhead Studios hasn't even brought it up.
Have you been playing Helldivers 2 recently? Have you noticed any improvements on PS5 Pro? Mark this down as another win for democracy in the comments section below.

Freedom never looked so good
Literally talking about this yesterday and someone kindly informed me of this upgrade. Unfortunately I’m now on shift so I can’t test it out! Looking forward to it though roll on montag
Still love dabbling in this one from time to time. Bizarre they didn’t publicize it but hey, I’m happy.
@Coffeeglitch it is odd isn’t it
@Americansamurai1 Freedom would look even better if they added PSSR (latest version).
The devs mentioned this in their discord a few weeks back but didn't feel like it was big enough to make a full announcement for
Hmm... Maybe this is why I actually played good the last time I played? Smoother rate.
I dunno man; the upgrades feel minor to me. Significant would be a 120hz mode and implementing better AA.
Recently? I bought the game in August and haven't stopped. It's my favourite game of the past 10 years.
@JB_Whiting don't worry, the anti-aliasing on the PC version is also awful.
I read DF's review yesterday or the day before, and the takeaways for me were that in terms of what was upgraded the game was unusually more improved than they would have guessed it could have been just based on Pros specs (as after significant res boosts they did not expect such boosts in framerate as well), but they would have preferred to see the Pros power used in a different way.
Great example how it does matter and that the resolution has been bumped and a higher performance means a better experience for all that have a Pro.
And just to back this up, look at the recently launched Kingdom Come: Deliverance II. Pro head and shoulders above all other consoles.
The reason why it’s not badged as PS5 Pro enhanced is because everyone seems to have forgotten that Sony’s rules are that your Pro build needs to do two of either native higher resolutions, more RT, or use PSSR. They’ve only checked one box.
reason why they didnt tell anybody is bcoz the vast majority of you ungrateful twerps praised the game then slagged it off months after. you have basically taken the wind out a great dev teams sails about yet another exclusive game, which has made sure another helldivers game wont get made. same thing happened to countless other sony only games. its you lot that keep complaining about pathetic stuff like dips in resolution, graphical fidelity and games being too hard or linear, which ruins it for the rest of us gamers who simply play a game for enjoyment and dont care about such woke things
Not playing on PS5 pro but last patch brought back audio to my game after 3 months of silence! That's happy upgrade!
