For those of you who didn’t get a chance to play Honkai: Star Rail’s new Amphoreus update, it’s effectively an epic 10-hour JRPG storyline set against a loosely European-inspired backdrop involving multiple deities and an impending cataclysmic event. And that’s just part one of a plot that’s scheduled to run all year long.
The next major update – ostentatiously named ‘Light Slips the Gate, Shadow Greets the Throne’ – will launch on 26th February, and will continue the Flame-Chase Journey, as the Trailblazer heads to a new location named the Grove of Epiphany in search of Cerces, the Reason Titan.

If none of this makes sense to you, don’t worry, in true gacha game storytelling style, we’re barely keeping up with it either. But it basically means there’s a ton more main quest to get through in the latest patch.
The update will be flanked by two new five-star characters: Tribbie, a Harmony hero, and Mydei who subscribes to Destruction.
The other main additions include a new version of the Divergent Universe, which has a day-and-night cycle mechanic, and a fun-looking Event where you’ll need to breed Chimeras in what looks like Honkai: Star Rail’s take on an idle RPG.
