Human Torch and The Thing will round out the playable Fantastic Four heroes in Marvel Rivals when they arrive in the game next week, on 21st February 2025.
Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman launched alongside the beginning of Season 1 back in January, and now the other two members of the squad are turning up as part of a mid-season update.
There's no official word on the two new characters and how they play, but we expect gameplay details will be revealed very soon.
What has been revealed thus far is that Season 1's second half update will introduce "major balance adjustments", as well as rank-based rewards for competitive players. Come 21st February, you will earn certain in-game rewards based on your current rank.
You'll be able to earn further rewards as you continue to play competitive matches through the remainder of Season 1.

Hopefully the Thing is a legitimate tank. I surprisingly really enjoy Marvel Rivals, but the tanks don’t quite feel as tanky as they should. The game definitely feels slanted toward dps.
However, as I make that argument, the balance being sort of off in Marvel Rivals is also potentially its biggest strength too. It doesn’t feel as algorithmically locked as so many F2P multiplayer titles. I like it’s sort of un-meta approach as someone that just wants to have fun when he plays multiplayer.
human torch ? yeah
temu hulk? nah
rly want ghost rider, blade, deadpool, green goblin, carnage, and a NYC map though
@somnambulance the balance being a bit off, and there being some unpolished edges honestly gives the game its charm. It reminds me of so many games in the 2000s pre AAA super polish craze that survived on their charm (e.g. recently replayed BG&E and it's kind of rougher than I remembered but it's still so much more than the sum of its parts). Just lets itself focus on being fun.
And as you say, it's not as algorithmically locked which in the current age of AI, the roughness provides some authenticity which feels fresh.
That's cool and all but here's the thing
@nomither6 Calling the thing temu hulk gotta be the dumbest thing I have seen today, lol.
@pigl3t Exactly. I don’t really like the Marvel brand at this point, so my friends dragged me kicking and screaming into playing the game, but I’m honestly really happy they did. It’s just a fun game and the developers seem interested in player feedback too. It takes me back to when multiplayer games felt sort of like a party rather than a grindy sweatfest that requires research weekly to succeed. It’s the kind of thing that made Goldeneye, Halo, Overwatch, even CoD succeed all those years ago, and I’m glad the game is broken in fun ways. I hope it stays that way.
@nomither6 There already is a NYC Midtown map in the game and another map based on Central Park being added with this update.
I hope human torch is the dps I need to finally be able to play dps in this game lol. I feel so useless in this role no matter what character I pick.
Also I get that solo queuing in comp is asking for a bad time, but it's seriously demoralizing going from gm to low diamond 2 after so many losses you feel you contributed a lot towards winning it. I hope those rewards are small title cards or something. I know you get a sue skin this time but you only need to be in gold.
@rachetmarvel ok, so? the thing is lame,
@PloverNutter which is it ? it’s called midtown? i haven’t played in weeks
@Judal27 his kit leaked a while back. Definitely a more strategic DPS
It's Clobberin' Time!
@nomither6 it’s the map where the attacking team rides down on an elevator to start the match.
It’s the main new map this season
@PloverNutter like videos of his moveset? All I remember is that he has a team up with storm who is like one of the few I'm decent with. But she gets banned 90% of the time
@Judal27 no video but the ability and moveset break down screen got leaked.
@ztpayne7 thanks
