Ninja Gaiden 2 Black may have come from nowhere, but it was one of the best-selling PS5 games in the US last month. And now you already have a reason to replay it.
A new update, available now, adds New Game+ mode to the popular remaster, allowing you to enjoy the entire campaign again with all of your previous content unlocked.
The patch also incorporates Photo Mode, and the ability to hide the projectile weapons being carried on your back.
Here’s the full patch notes, provided by developer Team Ninja:
Additional Content
- New Game+
Added the ability to begin a new game on a difficulty level you have previously cleared with the weapons and Ninpo you obtained in your previous playthrough already unlocked. When starting a new game this way, your weapons and Ninpo will be reverted to level 1. - Photo Mode

I reached chapter 11 last night so the update is certainly welcome right now, after looking at the trophy list I thought there were 13 chapters but also last night I discovered there are 17 total lol.
Although I enjoy the game I will definitely not touch it again after finishing it, too many frustrating parts and double boss fights without enough heal items.
Balance changes and bugfixes are good and all, but I really wanted playable Kasumi.
This is great. I almost started the game last night on my PS5 before this patch dropped. So this is a welcome addition, particularly NG+, and especially with trophies tied to multiple playthroughs on higher difficulties. It should make things easier, or harder, depending on how you look at it!
@Kraven Just a heads up though if you do pick NG+ you're kept at the difficulty you finished. So if you wanted to move up to a harder one you have to start from the beginning. A real pain as I'm having no luck on Mentor difficulty, so I might just throw the towel in
Only thing I would have liked to see is the AI adjusted to have a better chance of survival for the Mission mode! It was so much more enjoyable doing this with a real teammate on Sigma 2, but now the Master Ninja Missions are a bit of a pain as it feels like having to babysit the AI as well as defeating the enemies. Don’t need the AI to be god mode or anything, just a bit more competent! 😅
@mountain_spider would not be surprised is we potentially see a full remake of the first game at some point if 2 continues to sell well and 4 also does. This remaster was definitely made as a tester for the demand of bringing the old games back without committing to a full remake.
@mountain_spider Yea finger crossed a remake happens 🤞. Part 4 is out on PS5, Xbox and PC on the same day. Only different is that it's on game pass day one.
It's true once u go black u never go back 😉
It's a shame the price isnt very convincing to replay another "remaster"
