As open about its development efforts and future pipeline as ever, Remedy has announced its Max Payne 1 + 2 Remake project has now entered "full production". The update is sourced from its latest financial statement to investors, where it confirmed it's making "steady progress" as it works alongside Rockstar Games towards "key development objectives".
Elsewhere, it's revealed other Remedy projects like FBC: Firebreak are also in "full production" and a successful closed technical test was held in December where the team tested matchmaking and back-end services. A co-op spin-off of Control, the game will release in 2025 and comes to PS Plus Extra on day one.
As for the franchise's mainline follow-up Control 2, it has also recently entered full production. "The project has verified the velocity of asset creation, established production pipelines, and is ready for scaling up for production," Remedy said.
There's also some welcome news for Alan Wake 2 fans, as the Finnish developer has confirmed the game has now sold over two million units and is now generating royalties for the studio. "Remedy has started to accrue royalties from the game sales towards the end of Q4 2024," it confirmed.

Great! Hope it plays like Max Payne 3 with updated graphics!
I hope they didn't/don't waste to much on that firebreak ..as I'd be very shocked if it wasn't dead on arrival
Cant wait for this and control 2. the first game was fantastic! I hope they dont fk it up
I can't wait I absolutely loved the 1st game its up there with my favourite ever games I expect this be amazing
Imagine playing these games when released ~ Pure Nostalgia Fest
I was around 25 years ago and played it on PC, and later Xbox. The Playstation version stank.
The games were ground breaking, the comic book story telling was great and the bizarre dream sequences were awesome.
Unfortunately that couldn't hide the fact that it was just a shooting gallery in empty worlds.
Enter room, dive around and shoot, move to the next room. Didn't matter if you were in an apartment complex, warehouse or ship, it was all the same. You might see the odd druggy in a toilet but the worlds were devoid of people.
I'd love to see civilians running around and fleeing, with the player having to avoid spraying them. Max Payne 3 briefly hinted at that in the early club level, but sadly that went no where and you ended up in empty favela's and airports. Like 28 Days Later.
Hope it's more than just a Halo Anniversary/Diablo 2 reskin, and closer to a Silent Hill 2.
El Paso Elsewhere is a pretty cool game.
Max Payne was my favourite when I was a kid. Can't wait to see the remakes and quietly hoping for Sam Lake's beautiful mug for Max.
I hope we get MP3, absolutely loved that on the 360, in fact bundle it with Rockstar Table Tennis with Lui Ping as an alternative character in max payne😀
I'm almost as hyped for this as I am for GTA VI.
Damn I cant wait.
I can’t wait for this. I bought a PS2 for Max Payne specifically when I was younger. I haven’t played the series since Max Payne 3 first released, which was a phenomenal game, so I’m excited to jump back into this (connected) world Remedy has masterfully created.
I'm jazzed about all of their games, honestly. I'm hoping they still use the comic panel style storytelling for the MP remakes, though I kind of doubt they will.
I guess I'm in the minority based on the comments, but I did not like MP3 at all. It was such a departure from Remedy's work, it didnt really follow their ethos at all.
I don’t really buy games day one anymore, but for this…
I think if they can balance the original's balls-to-the-wall action and MP3's slower paced, weightier feel (cover mechanics to boot), but with a huge dollop of Remedy's (even more) weird atmosphere and meta humour they've grown since Control and AWII, then this could be something special.
I clicked like on each and every comment here for the first time, cause they are all so right. Trophy unlocked.
