2020 Game One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 Sets Sail for PS5 with More DLC Planned 1

Bandai Namco’s unprecedented post-release support for its successful anime adaptations has claimed a new benefactor, as One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 – originally released in 2020 – is coming to the PS5 with new DLC planned.

There’s currently no word on whether the new-gen version will offer a free upgrade from the PS4, but we’ll check with Bandai Namco to try and get some clarity. The company did offer a free upgrade for existing owners of Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot and Dragon Ball FighterZ, so it’d perhaps be reasonable to expect the same here.

The publisher is saying that the PS5 version will include every DLC character and mission released thus far. It’s also planning new content for the title, and it’s running a survey where you can pick which characters you want to be added.

In other news, the company has announced that One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4 has sold over four million copies to date, with more presumably to be added following the release of this PS5 port. There’s no release window attached to the new-gen version just yet, but we’ll update as soon as we know more.

We were pretty positive on the original version of One Piece: Pirate Warriors 4, awarding it a 7/10 in our review. “The game's delightful and diverse roster really is its greatest strength, and thanks to an emphasis on building combos, the combat system can be surprisingly rewarding, despite its repetitive nature,” we wrote.
