Twisted Metal had no right to be as fun as it was. The television series adaptation was a barrel of laughs, and unsurprisingly was picked up for a second season after performing well above expectations.
And here’s your first taste of the new series, which brings the story back to its original inspiration.
For those of you who didn’t watch the first season (spoilers!), delivery driver John Doe (Anthony Mackie) was manipulated into thinking he was about to earn the perfect lifestyle, only to end up entered into the Twisted Metal tournament. And now it’s time for said tournament to take place.
The new trailer shows off a bunch of characters, including Calypso. It’ll debut on Peacock this summer, and we can’t wait to tune in.

Definitely a shame that new Twisted Metal game was cancelled and can't capitalize off of this show's success
What is it with Playstation announcing all the good stuff the day after the State of Play? First the Astro Bot update and now this, I'm expecting Bloodborne Remastered by 6 pm tonight.
@IceClimbersMain I think they just don’t mind spreading announcements around. Like, we’ve got Death Stranding 2 at SXSW.
To be honest, at least it always gives us new stuff to write about. 😂
Pumped for this. First season was far more enjoyable than I was expecting
@IceClimbersMain Why would they announce a new season of a TV show on a "State of Play"?
@Frmknst
Lies! I think the show was great and fun. Opinions and all that.
I am so exciting! They captured something special in Season 1. Having flavors from the games, but they're own thing and plenty of references and characters. Mr Grimm, Calypso, and the Axel tease! I wanna see how they transport between events. This looks great and I hope they didn't try to change what they had going.
I expected absolute dumpster fire from the first season. I'm very glad I was wrong.
Would be great of you could watch in Europe instead of the series being stuck at a no name streaming service only available in the US.
@Frmknst the show is great. The games… ABSOLUTE 🐕 💩!
I enjoyed the first season, looking forward to the second, but I’ll need more than just this to pay for Peacock again. Maybe Pokerface will release season 2 around then as well? Not sure why a show that low on special effects needs 2 1/2 years between seasons. Stupid strikes. 😩
The show was very good, stuffed of references from all Twisted Metal games! Loved it, and I will see S2!!
@Flaming_Kaiser its streaming on paramount + in the UK did take a few months before it finally came to the UK.
I enjoyed the 1st season despite i didn't know much of the game lore and looks like the 2nd season will be better.
@Frmknst The show was fun. Period.
@IceClimbersMain Why would Sony show a tv series trailer at State of Play??? And i bet people will complaint if Sony did it.
@PuppetMaster @ButterySmooth30FPS I mean, Nintendo surprised dropped the Mario Movie cast during a Nintendo Direct which focuses on "games releasing on Nintendo Switch" so it's not illogical for Sony to do the same.
Never really played Twisted Metal and went into the series with low expectations as I wass unsure how a modern Carmaggedon could even translate into a show.
In the end I though it was great for what it was, it aimed to be just OTT stupid fun and they nailed it.
@PorkChopExpress did you not see the 1st season?
@IceClimbersMain It's called Nintendo Direct, not Nintendo Play. So it's not out of the norm if they announced non-games stuff at that event. It's different compare to Sony SoP that fully focused on games. Now if you're talking about Playstation Showcase, maybe they could show movie / tv trailer.
the success of this tv show is my next best hope for them ever MAKING ANOTHER GAME!!!!! I’m still hurt that it was canceled!
I enjoyed this show, will have to sub back to the app it's on in the UK at in the summer. Paramount or whoever it is.
@bindiana Not available in the Netherlands to bad. But thanks for the information.
