You may remember SEGA announced it's reviving a bunch of its dormant IPs; one of them is Shinobi, and it looks like it'll be the first to release.
The full title of this new game is Shinobi: Art of Vengeance, and it's coming to PS5 and PS4 on 29th August, 2025.
Coming from Lizardcube, one of the devs behind the beloved Streets of Rage 4, this is a side-scrolling action platformer with super stylish visuals.
It looks like you'll have lots of ninja skills to master as you jump, flip, and slash your way through the game.

Details are thin on the ground right now, but it's looking very strong — and the developer has a good track record, so we're pretty confident in this one.

Looks amazing. If this being made by the same team that did SOR4 then I know it’s in good hands.
It looks amazing!! Now I’m desperate to play the series now.
Finally a new Shinobi game and it looks awesome. I trust Lizardcube will deliver a great experience just like they did with SoR 4.
I wonder if Yuzo Koshiro gonna compose the music though. And is the protag back to Joe Musashi again?
I'm hype so i'm gonna replay Shinobi PS2 and Genesis ones haha
I am so excited! New 2D Shinobi and new 2D Ninja Gaiden in the same year, I can hardly wait!
This reveal has also given me a bunch more confidence in Sega's whole IP revival plan, I am interested in seeing more of their projects.
Omg, when I saw the "From the creators of Streets of Rage 4"... I am so excited for this game. I love Shinobi and I love Lizard Cube. This'll be a day one purchase for me for sure.
Couldn’t be more excited! Shinobi III and the Game Gear Shinobi in particular are literally burned into my memory. This is so awesome.
Was looking forward to seeing more info on one of these games ever since Sega teased their revival of old IPs and this did not disappoint! I'm really excited to see what they do with the other games as well I think this could be a great move from sega
Man, that's so my jam it's ridiculous. Now I just want to play some Streets of Rage 4. I can't wait.
Shinobiiiii! Damn, this brings back memories. I really like the art style!
Looks like lots of fun and it looks pretty!
Looks awesome. Already sold. Hope we get a physical version.
With this and Ninja Gaiden Ragebound, my 2D nostalgia hits will be covered for the year. This looks absolutely phenomenal.
Looks really incredible. I’m impressed she’s
So weird (but awesome) that we’re getting this AND a new 2D Ninja Gaiden.
The trailer music doesn't make me optimistic about the soundtrack, but it could go either way.
The combo system in SOR4 was a big turnoff for me. I'll just hope this turns out well.
The best game shown during the state of play for my part.
I loved, loved, loved SR3
This looks amazing. I really enjoyed Streets of Rage 4, so I'm glad to hear this is from the same developer.
@bestuardo Yeah, and we just got Shadow of the Ninja Reborn last year. Haven't yet played it, though.
My (ninja) body is ready. I can't wait!
@CottonModem Why SoR 4 combo system turn you off? It's quite similar to SoR 3 combo but better.
@PuppetMaster Oh, I meant the way combos break and result in no points if you get hit while they're active, so you have to wait around for them to time out to get the points. I only did a single playthrough with a friend around launch and never went back to it. I'm sure I could get used to it, but I hate it as a design decision.
@PuppetMaster hey there friend.
I was just thinking the same thing, since they brought Koshiro-san back for Streets of Rage 4 alongside other composers.
Some of the most amazing OSTs were done by him.
And the game looks awesome. Love the art style so much.
With Ninja Gaiden Ragebound and Shinobi Art of Vengeance (Badass name btw) as well as NG2B, NG4 and AC Shadows this is truly the year of the Ninja and I love it.
Cheers everyone and happy gaming
I have absolute confidence in Dotemu... But it kinda looks like it's going to a be a Metroidvania and, man, I'm so fupping burnt out on Metroidvanias.
I really, really hope I'm wrong and that is linear, level-based action with just incredibly varied gameplay, with the potential for absolute mastery with subsequent replays.
Made for the deck this one. Looks really good.
