After a very brief teaser, SEGA has shown off Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds for the first time, and it's looking really fun.
This kart racer, starring Sonic the Hedgehog and all his colourful friends and enemies, features all kinds of vehicle transformations, but the big new attraction here is that you'll be racing across different dimensions.
Portals seem to appear part way through races, immediately taking you to totally different locations.
It seems you'll be able to race solo or in teams, with offline and online modes available.
Speaking of online, a closed network test for the game will be playable on PS5 and PS4, with sign-ups opening on 21st February.

All-Stars Transformed x Sonic Riders with monster trucks and a bit of Rift Apart. Could go hard.

Sega's most universally beloved racing game Transformed had all sorts of ips, I would imagine a true sequel would include Persona and Like a Dragon.
The gradual death of karting games - once a reliable staple of the gaming landscape - is a sad thing. I can’t see this as anything but a good thing!
This game looks like a blast! It is great to have more games on PS5 that both play great with the nieces and nephews, and provide a whole lot of simple joy when I want to unwind.

Just looks like Sonic Characters being embarrassing somewhere else. I saw the Afterburner carrier, but no characters from different franchises.
Looking forward to it. Good to see they’ve added transformations back, I just hope it has more to it than Team Sonic Racing. The amount of characters and tracks in that compared to Crash Team Racing and Mario Kart 8 was pathetic.
Why do they refuse to put sonic back on hoverboards again? like dude, there’s so many kart racers already. but who am i kidding, sonic team has been creatively bankrupt for decades

Can't go wrong with Sonic Racing. This looks fun. One of the few colorful games during the presentation too.
@tabris95 i saw a kart racer with gimmicks . or did i miss the one that showed an extra mode that was hoverboards only, because if i did please let me know!
@nomither6 I mean, I think the fact that you can be on a hoverboard again at all is pretty great.
Game looks cool, and nice that the extreme gears are back even though they are seemingly more of a gimmick now then actual alternate vehicles unless I missed something.
I feel like CTR:NF being left on 30 fps and abandoned after a year is one of the biggest kart racing disappointments in history. I know Mario Kart has a huge fan-base too, but the two don't really compete. Seeing this, I don't think it would stand a tiny chance, if CTR was still (or ever) taken seriously be the re-developers. Such a damn shame.
Looks to me like this game solely has potential because it's new and has barely any competition. Sad times for the kart racing. I hope those who are hyped for it have a great time with it, but new karting games only remind me of the heartbreak of CTR. <3
