A new PS5 console bundle containing a digital PS Store download voucher for Astro Bot is on its way to retailers, a new report from reliable leaker Billbil-Kun claims. Apparently available from around mid-March, the bundle shall offer a base PS5 system at a discount in Europe and the USA.
The leaker doesn't know when the announcement from Sony will take place, though speculates it could be part of this week's rumoured State of Play livestream. If it is, the reveal could also bring with it confirmation of new Astro Bot PS5 content. At a recent PlayStation Tournament, a new speedrun level was unveiled but it hasn't been made available to the public yet.
The most celebrated platformer of all time with 100+ Game of the Year awards, bundling Astro Bot with PS5 boxes is a great introduction to PlayStation for new owners. Since it also includes the pre-installed Astro's Playroom, this will likely be one of the best platforming offerings ever.
When we awarded Astro Bot our own Game of the Year award, we said: "Consistently creative levels that are fun to play over and over, rewarding progression, immaculate presentation, and leveraging the PS5 platform to its fullest — it's brilliant, and easily among the best games the console has to offer." It now sounds like future PS5 owners will have the chance to pick the system up with one of its best games right away.

I already have a PS5 and Astro Bot, but it's sad to see that the console will be bundled with a download voucher instead with a physical copy.
I'm sick and tired of seeing bLaCk MyTh WuKoNg is better, that game quite possibly be the most over hyped game of all time.
IMO, PS5 desperately needs a price cut for any model to be more appealing to consumers and ship more units. Even keeping the price the same with Astro included is enough for now. £379.99 is a hard sell for a console which is coming up on 5 years old.
@Crono_Roughknight I think this is complicated because most PS5 models are now digital with an optional disc drive. As you don't know if your users are going to have a disc drive or not Digital is more sensible in this case and allows everyone to play the game.

This is wonderful and will help inflate Astro’s sales, similar to how Mario Kart 8’s. The game deserves it. With both Astro games, new console owners are basically guaranteed to have a great experience with the console early to start and Sony can slap a prestigious title on the bundle since it was a surprise GotY… or at least a surprise to Sony and the people that hadn’t previously played an Astro game.
And, man, do I hope more levels are announced this week for State of Play. I could keep going back to Astro Bot. My family has a cumulative 120 hours in the darn thing. My son beats the game, deletes his save, starts over, and my daughter watches. I hope Astro becomes a bigger mascot as time goes on. My kids love him.
I really want this game! But I need a bigger sale than the current one.

A lot of people are still buying Switch, a 7 year old console, at $300 or 350 for OLED ver and the hardware is outdated af, even much weaker than base PS4. So i don't think $379-400 is a hard sell for PS5, a 5 year old console with solid lineup and has better hardware than Switch.

Makes sense to have this bundle launch alongside when Sony is guessing the Switch 2 will be the talk of the town. You almost always see Mario and Nintendo brought up alongside Astrobot. And despite what Nintendo says Switch 2 will probably be difficult to come by at launch b/c scalpers.
Not that I can imagine a lot of people buying a PS5 while they wait on Switch 2 but might as well capitalize on the zeitgeist.
I'm old enough to remember when a new console pretty much always came bundled with a game, it was very much the norm back then

@Oram77 Veilguard flopped for sure, we know that definitively now, but yet again you missed the point... which wasn't whether it failed or not, it was that you and others were claiming it failed BEFORE there was any proof of that based on speculation alone, seemingly because you wanted it to fail. A broken clock is right twice a day.

Include custom Astro console plates and the Astro controller, and it'll increase it's sales even more...
Missed opportunity imo, an Astro custom console + specific controller bundle should have been released by now, at the very least officially teased for the near future, to profit from the tide generated by the game's success...

Astrobot was my GOTY so nothing beats it for me, but Wukong was fantastic even if my tired old reflexes stopped me getting more than halfway....

If the price is going to be discounted plus a pack in of Astro, that could move some consoles. Of course, we’ll see some REAL movement with GTA 6, hopefully later this year.

@Member_the_game when I bought a Sega Genesis it came with Sonic, Streets of Rage 2 and a coupon that gave you Sonic the Hedgehog 2 for free. Consoles use to come with some really sweet deals back in the day and the always shipped with a game.
@Member_the_game I remember different Sega Master System models having different built-in games embedded into the BIOS such as Snail Maze and Alex Kidd. Hang-On for US models.
Ooo, they should bundle this with the Astro Bot PS5 controller as well. That would be... incredibly tempting, I won't lie.
Thats one way to get the game into more hands. Cause it didn’t set the sales chart on fire, but man is it ever a well made and fun to play game.

Yes I think you are right, I seem to remember the Master System MK1 having Alex the Kidd built in and the MK2 version having Sonic the Hedgehog
It will probably sell more copies with bundles than actual purchases.
