Ubisoft has teased a "new era" of Rainbow Six: Siege will be ushered in as it unveils the "biggest transformation in the game's history" at a special Siege X showcase next month. Taking place on 13th March 2025, the livestream will reveal "new ways to play", deeper tactical gameplay, and "graphical and audio upgrades". You can watch a teaser video above.
Rainbow Six: Siege turns 10 this year, and has come an incredibly long way since its initial disappointing reveal at E3. With Rainbow Six: Siege X, the French publisher is starting a "new era" in the game's lifespan that's designed to set "the stage for the years to come". One of the best tactical first-person shooters around, Ubisoft is looking to "reinforce" its position at the top of the table.

Sigh, 10 years of hoping in vain that they'll give us a single-player/co-op focused R6 again; as someone who does not generally enjoy competitive multiplayer, Seige can never scratch the itch of what I loved about Lockdown and the Vegas series. I spent so much time across both the campaign modes and Terrorist Hunt and would love to again (unless they flooded it with microtransactions, which modern Ubisoft would be almost guaranteed to do).
Unless they're introducing a complete single player campaign on par with at least the Vegas series, I have zero interest.
Hope this one has Linux support, because I'm pretty sure people are still pissed about they can't play Siege on Steam Deck.
I've never played Rainbow Six Siege, but I do hope Rainbow Six Siege Twitter does good things for them as they do need it - and for all the valid (and invalid) criticisms levied against them I wouldn't want to see what is essentially the largest French VG employer go under.
Despite increasingly popular opinion, it is a company full of talented and experienced developers who do produce good games, even if that's more often a 'comfort food' good than it is an 'industry defining' good.
Siege is popular, but it feels like it's always been at the tipping point of breaking into the wider zeitgeist. To me the logical next step is going Free to play, which will probably anger some of its current base but will likely open them up to a much wider audience which might be necessary to ensure its longevity.
Whatever they have planned, I'm curious to see their announcements come March.
I would laugh laugh laugh if they did something silly like the collabs Fortnite and COD do. Just have John Cena crash into the bomb room before taking out Doja Cat and Jin Kazama.
We need rainbow six Vegas reboot
I'd love a return to it's roots, a solid gritty campaign, great co-op and a more realistic multiplayer rather than the live service hero shooter it's become. Ready or Not is the only good single and co-op shooter in this genre at the moment.
I just want some co-op terrorist hunt… I miss classic R6 gameplay, and recently revisited the N64 version.
They should’ve left Seige when it was good & then started work on a sequel with a new engine & go back to the Tom Clancy vision & realism. I lost interest a couple of years ago when it became more of an e-sports tactical hero shooter.
In saying that, I’d prefer a Rainbow six Vegas single player/co-op game or them have a go at Patriots again.
Being Ubisoft, I know they’d ***** it up though
Ugh, it seems I’m not alone in my wishes for another single-player Rainbow Six.
I played the crap out of every Rainbow Six, especially 3 (the Alcatraz level was awesome) and both Vegas games.
Really wish they’d re-release Vegas for consoles. I don’t play computer games, despite them both being on Steam. Ubisoft, please release a dual pack port for modern consoles for us folks who don’t do this online competitive gameplay! I want to hunt terrorists and unlock stuff!
