Microbird Games has today revealed it's bringing Dungeons of Hinterberg to PS5 next month following its original Xbox Series X|S, PC launch last year. Scheduled in for 13th March 2025, the release brings the base game to PS5 along with a newly announced update that includes a "new, secret bonus episode". There is not a new trailer to accompany the news, but you can see the game in action above.
Dungeons of Hinterberg is a mixture of dungeon crawling (mostly combat, exploration) and Persona-esque relationship-making out in the Austrian alps. "Players can explore different biomes, solve puzzles, slay huge bosses — then have a Schnitzel with the locals and other slayers from around the globe," a press release explains. "Building deep relationships can unlock special abilities and gameplay systems or give players key items, helping them find their way through a daunting dungeon."

Upon its original launch, the game garnered a Metacritic rating of 81 for the Xbox Series X|S version. Our sister site Pure Xbox wasn't quite as hot on it as others in a 7/10 rated review, but still found room to praise its colourful visuals and gameplay mechanics.
"Dungeons of Hinterberg is a hugely stylish and hipster-cool action-RPG that does a fantastic job in building a world that feels worth exploring, replete with dungeons that require effort whilst remaining fittingly chilled out," reads the conclusion. "This is a puzzle-orientated affair more than an action-heavy thing, and that's a wise choice, as the puzzles here easily trump the fairly average fighting."

Nice! Played the "demo" on PC, but I prefer to play it on my TV. I'll wait for it to dip to around €20 though.
Loved this game on Series X/GamePass. Highly recommend it!
This looks really cool. I've been delving into smaller games (since I usually play epics like GOW, ESO, and any RPG that can consume my life) and have been finding some gems. It's amazing the number of great-but-not-so-popular games the PS5 has readily available.
I thought it was severely underrated when it dropped last year. If you want a Persona-like game without the massive time commitment and fear of missing content, then you might enjoy this.
Love the art style. Might check it out on my steam deck
really enjoyed this on Xbox when it released, put about 20 hours into. super chilled out and great variety of dungeons. definitely worth checking out.
This is awesome news. I played several hours on the Series X but got distracted by other games and never went back to it. This will definitely be on my radar to play when it releases. Also, I think it would be a perfect pair with my PlayStation Portal.
The art style reminds me of Sable.
Let’s hope it runs better cause that game was unplayable.
Hello there fellow gamers.
I just have to give a shout out to Dungeons of Hinterberg.
Been playing the game on both my Series X and PC every now and then.
It has a very charming setting, unique visual aesthetics and the gameplay mechanics are pretty solid, alongside some interesting puzzles.
And it has a similar Persona Calendar and Bond system, although very casual friendly in a good way.
It´s a pretty good chill game.
Cheers and happy gaming everyone
Great chill game id recommend it 😎
I never got around to playing it
Loved this one enough to beat it on gamepass, then buy it after. Its a very fun game.
