Forza Horizon 5 now has a confirmed release date on PS5 (which is a sentence that we never even dreamed of writing just a couple of years back).
The open world racer launches on the 29th April, with four days of early access for those who shell out for the $99.99 'Premium Edition'.
Speaking of pricing, the standard edition's coming in at $59.99 — which may raise a few eyebrows given that the game first released in 2021 for Xbox and PC.
We first heard about Forza Horizon 5's path to PlayStation last month, and Microsoft has been banging on about bringing its Xbox Studios titles to "the broadest audience possible" ever since. Naturally, we're left wondering what's next. Halo? Gears? We'll probably find out sooner rather than later.

So, are you looking forward to playing Forza Horizon 5 on PS5? Get those racing gloves out in the comments section below.

Bruh $60 cmon it's a 4 year old game
Had it on pc day 1, ill just stick to the pc version
Removed - flaming/arguing
Strange. £60? * People who want this, but haven’t been able to get the other console, have likely been waiting many years. Surely they will wait another 6 months for this old game to drop to a fair price?
.*edit: $60. Maybe they haven’t given a UK price yet? Still, the above point stands even at £45. £35 would be the price I’d consider suitable at “release”.
Early Access is a bit mental on a port, no?
@Yaycandy That's great 👍 So what happens with 4 days early access?, just cruising up n down the highways with the other virtual dick wavers 😀
Glad to finally have a release date, I'm there day one no question!
I can't believe that people are complaining about the price. Does Sony not release their PC ports at full price?
Anyone surprised by the $60 price tag must have their head buried in the sand. Sea of Thieves is a 7 year old game and they charge $40 for it. This is one of their flagship franchises, of course they're charging full price. Anyone who thought it'd be any different should have their head checked out.
What, were y'all expecting this to launch at $40? It'll go on sale.
Will be waiting on a deeeeep sale
@YoureTooSlowBro I mean the thing is it’s going to sell too. I certainly am not surprised by the price.
Didn't realise it was only available in the USA.
Gutted
Lol at that price they just killed a large portion of potential buyers in one stupid greedy decision. They will fit right in with Sony 🤣
Yeah, no. This is a 2021 game. It should be $60 for a Complete Edition with all DLC. They're trying to act like it's a brand-new game with this Premium Edition garbage.
@InJeffable Pretty sure this is a brand new game for the platform.
I'll get it on the cheap down the road. I feel like this will go on-sale sooner rather than later.
@KundaliniRising333 No they didn't. The potential buyers are mostly the same. The only people who really care are the ones on internet forums that complain about everything.
Price arguments aside, this is an amazing game and anyone who hasn’t played it should pick it up. Totally recommend
It’s a great game but preferred FH4 being UK biased and it felt more direct and less confusing in its objectives.
Any news on PS5 Pro enhancements.
A straight native 4 60fps?
Lower resolution, PSSR upscaler 60fps?
Will be very very interesting to see how the Xbox series x version stacks up against the PS5 Pro version.
If PSSR is used it could be a softer image and not as sharp like the new monster Hunter game is on the PS5 Pro compared to the PS5, when running at 60fps using PSSR to upscale, not a great side effect to have image wise.
Wow ok I wasn’t expecting that kind of level of full price. £100 for the deluxe? Kinda makes me want to subscribe to gamepass to cover off the cost… oh wait… that’s the idea right? What’s annoying is my ultimate license I have on Xbox (which I have now sold) won’t count for this at all. Shame, I’ll wait for the price to reduce a bit for paying. I do wonder if the port works well and if it’s better than the Xbox series x version…
@RZ-Atom Yes, this is the first time we're seeing it on PS5. That doesn't mean the game is new or that the premium price is justified. Something else to consider is that Forza Horizon 5 is an Xbox One title that also released on Xbox Series and is now being ported to PS5. Because of that, I would say that the premium price has even less justification.
Let's face it: Gran Turismo 7 is far, far, far, far, far, far gasps for air far, far, far, far superior and even does VR.
I don't know why they bother releasing it. GT7 is also regularly getting updates too, but I hear that Forza games die out quickly.
Surely they could just do a complete edition for like £70 given the game came out four years ago. It'll be dirt cheap within a year too
"Speaking of pricing, the standard edition's coming in at $59.99 — which may raise a few eyebrows given that the game first released in 2021 for Xbox and PC."
Someone needs to look at when God of War came out for the PC and the price. It was out 6 years after the PS4 version and costs how much? I really wish personal opinion of the "news" poster wasn't included in it post.
@InJeffable The game is new. It just came out. Stop trying to justify being cheap.
@get2sammyb
Hahahaha...... What an obvious cash grab. Is the game even still being updated? Or have I misinformed the public in a previous comment?
@EfYI
Forza Horizon and GT7 are completely different games. Forza Horizon is an open world arcade style racer.
If it were Forza Motorsport that was being released then you're statement would possibly be more relevant
@RZ-Atom
Better believe it. Personally, I am dying laughing. I mean GT7 exists! Why would you ever buy Forza?
Considering I got the Xbox version for free, this won't even feel like double-dipping!
@Member_the_game
And so you don't race in vehicles that go 'vroom-vroom'?
@Blofse
Series x runs both 30 and 60 fps at native 4K.
However the 30fps modes has all the effects etc turned right up and on.
So will be interesting to see if the PS5 matches that and the PS5 Pro runs the 60fps at native 4K with all the effects etc turned right up and on like the series x 30fps mode but at 60fps on the PS5 Pro.
This is one of the few games I envied Xbox users for having, but I'll have to think about shelling out $60 for it. That's a bit steep considering how long it's been out for. At the same time, I am currently modding my Outrun Arcade 1up and this is one of the games I'm looking to add to it, so we'll see.
@EfYI Because they have almost nothing in common except cars?!?! They’re totally different games. Only thing comparable on PlayStation is The Crew (and the Horizon games are much better than any of those). Your statements show your complete lack of knowledge about the game.
Open world arcade racing vs semi-simulator style racing on tracks. Cars handle nothing like each other - AT ALL.
@EfYI
I'm pretty sure you can Race in vehicles in Mario Kart that go "Vroom Vroom"
Shall we start comparing that to GT7 as well?
@EfYI Oof. Toxic fandom right here. I'd rather play Mario Kart 8 on Wii U than Gran Turismo 7 on PS5. What's your point, and of course we're going to compare.
That’s a lot to be honest. I did love Horizon 4, I’d take that ported for £20!
Think il pass pure greed
@RZ-Atom
It isn't toxic to call out the greedy games. You sound like you lost a console war or something.
I just recommend GT7, is all, whilst laughing at the incredulity.
@EfYI If you wanted to play it for a lower price there are other options available. Nothing greedy about a company releasing a product for people to buy. If you can't afford something like a videogame, which no one needs, don't buy it.
@Member_the_game
Sure - they're both multiplayer. Go right ahead. I will play Mario Kart in a retro bar once a year, and honestly.... it is good for one or two rounds. It's a truly dated experience in my opinion.
GT7 still feels fresh everytime I put on the VR helmet
Sony charge $50-60 for their PC ports, so it seems reasonable. If it’s too much then just wait, it will be 50% off within a fairly quick timeframe I’d imagine.
@RZ-Atom
I think it could land on PS Plus soon. A good service for branching out and trying different games you'd never buy.
@awp69
You clearly have a much more developed sense of car games than I.
If you LOVE car games like I love RPGs then this one is apparently 100 dollars worth, enjoy good sir!
Give us a VR mode and it's a day 1 buy for me.
I wish they also released it on ps4
@get2sammyb early access is a bit mental on a game that isn't a port.
Sure it's "expensive", $150 for the Premium Edition (Australian price, also not bad for me as I'm not broke 😅) it's the EXACT SAME PRICE on Xbox sooooo 🤷♂️ Don't see a problem with that.
Nintendo charges full price for ports of their old games to Switch and few complain.
@EfYI completely different type of game. Better to compare motorsport
@EfYI Completely different type of game but ok.
@thefourfoldroot1 That’s my plan! I’ve waited this long…I can wait a little longer.
Don't understand the price complaints tbh. It's a Microsoft game they were never giving it at a discount. £55 in the UK and probably £45 if physical. I don't consider that bad with the amount of content in the game
@get2sammyb early access for a 4 year old game 😂😂😂 Just pure stupidity.
I'll wait for a very big sale to double dip
60 for a 4 year old game is a rip off its still great though but it's still 4 years old
@Andy22385 it's great but it's still 4 years old
Wow, some people bitch about everything.
Acting like a 4 year old game is some antiquated piece of crap.
Too pricey for a 4 year old game.
People, games go on sale! All three of these editions will be discounted in no time. We don't have to buy everything ASAP.
It’s a fantastic game. First time the series is on PlayStation so may as well be ‘new’ in that context. £60 isn’t cheap but as I say it’s a fantastic game and will rightfully sell tonnes I’m sure. I think it’s exciting tbh.
@get2sammyb It’s no early access, it’s a first steep price cut after four days.
I think Microsoft is testing the waters to see how high it can go with pricing for PlayStation users.
I know it's a few years old, but I'm happy to pay £54.99 for it. Sure it would be great if it's was cheaper, but it's a brand new game to me at the end of the day.
@EfYI I can look over the fact that you cant see difference between FH a GT out of ignorance.
But the fact that youre on a crusade against cashgrabs yet youre praising PSVR is sutch an obvious troll bait its not even funny :/
@Dman10 Really ? You should visit Nintendo Life once in a while.
£60 is fair, yes it's an old game but it's being newly launched on PS5. That being said I wouldn't pay it - but there's no crime over that pricing. Sony is still selling Ghost of Tsushima at at £70. Granted it does go on sale for half off, but the game is also 5 years old.
I 'll wait till its on sale for around €30, The Crew Motorfest will do if i want to play an arcade racer.
Not to start anything but this is the argument for all people on Xbox side saying why have an Xbox when they're all going playstation lol gamepass great value or pay full on ps. If want the ps exclusives n few Xbox or buy most if got money then ok but for value gamepass on Xbox is way better. Probs be still better getting both consoles ps for exclusives n Xbox for gamepass
The Forza horizon games have all had their online shut down and been delisted after 5 to 6 years. So asking full price for a game that’s reaching its end of life is kind of a ***** move by Microsoft.
It feels like a bad joke. A series which has absolutely no PlayStation feeling. Gladly, Forza Horizon 5 isn't the best entry in the series, 3 and 4 were better and still belong to XBox gamers.
So, boring! Next...
@Nalim yeah, but The Crew is crap compared to Forza Horizon...
N.i.c.e. that's gonna sell a lot.word up son
It's still the first time its released on Playstation hardware. It's no different from Deathloop or Ghostwire which released on Xbox at the RRP - nott a 'discounted' or lower price just because its an 'old' game. Its still a 'next' gen game that should still look and run well on PS5 and at least 60fps.
It's still a LOT cheaper than buying an Xbox or PC to 'buy' the game for less - yes it maybe available on Game Pass too, but unless you have a Series X or PC, you won't get the equivalent visual quality and performance.
It's a current gen AAA game and soon going to be available on PS5 for the first time. I think its actually priced at the 'same' launch price on Xbox - not the 'current' Price point that Sony and then others have now adopted - $70! No $10 'upgrade' charge for PS5+ versions!!
I won't be buying it - but I don't think it's 'unreasonable' or 'unfair' compared to all other NEW releases (even 'old' games remastered or 'upgraded' to current gen are more expensive than they were when they released). The current price for NEW games is above what Forza Horizon will cost and its still the ONLY way to Play Forza on your PS5. Unless you have other options, it's whether you want to play it 'enough' to pay the asking price - inc waiting for Sales to reach the price point at which you think its worth buying to you.
@EfYI The servers for Forza Horizon 3 and 4 are still active, and Horizon 1/2 are still perfectly playable offline.
You can’t buy NEW copies at regular retail now of any but 5, but they don’t “die quickly.” They sell for a limited period of time because of licensing restrictions.
Plus, the Horizon series isn’t like Gran Turismo. They’re open-world racing games and you can ramp down the realism.
That said…I’ll get it before it gets delisted on PS5. I already have it on my series X, but I would very much love to have it on my preferred console.
im gonna pre order this early april on my birthday so you all can complain while i drive around LOL
I sayyy months ago when i see this. I will just buy if...if have a cros save transfer from xbox to ps5. Because is a great game. I have tons of cars tonnnns of money on xbox. But serious... whos already have all this and have to play a lot to have it again... i think... not wasting more time with the same game to start again. Makes no sense to me. Ill be continue on xbox if that so.
@BAMozzy one difference is it came on gamepass though so while might have dropped full price bet most played through gamepass
@Vladspartan yes I hope it has cross progression.
Is it getting a physical release
@EfYI Please do put your VR helmet on, preferably over your hands or place it on your keyboard to save us more of your verbal diarreah, cheers 😆
"early access" 🤔 that's weird.
I'll 100% buy the game when it gets down to £25 or so.
@Fartingale this is the ps5 though..there's no way the servers are going to shut down for a long time yet..don't be silly..
@Nintendo4Sonic the crew motorfest is almost as good as fh5..the first 2 crew games were ropey as hell (personal opinion) but motorfest is superb.
@Northern_munkey I enjoyed Motorfest as there was plenty of variety to the playlists on offer as well as some narrative to said playlists too. Also similar to FH5, whilst being different at the same time
@get2sammyb Me neither. I had no doubt it’d be full price. I can’t afford it right now, but I do hope it sells well.
The Normal price is fine because it is a new game for the platform but I would say it should include some dlc for that price, like an ultimate edition.
Early Access needs to go die in a fire however, MS love that now and its the height of scummy practices imo.
@Scouse_Pirlo it's a great game and works incredibly well with a steering wheel. Would I buy this as well? Definitely!
Lmao Microsoft Gaming desperately needs money, $60 standard and even early-access…
Nice.. Great game looking forward to it.
The amount of moan here is astonishing though must say.
@Northern_munkey I played a few hours of Motorfest myself. Sorry, every Forza Horizon game felt way better.
Not, that I don't like Ubisoft, but The Crew just felt cheap and bland.
@Nintendo4Sonic Motorfest is far from crap and certainly good enough to play while waiting a bit for a sale on Horizon
@Nintendo4Sonic I didn't say it was better I said it was almost as good. Cheap and bland are not words I'd use to describe motorfest at all as it's one of the most colorful racers I've played to date. Not sure how it's cheap either. The only thing I didn't like about motorfest was the god awful dialogue but thankfully you can turn those millenial dullards off.
@Artois2 I'm getting day one
Playing this game with wheels and on Pro, it will be amazing. Sad it doesn't have VR2 support, but it's fine.
@Nintendo4Sonic Why you guys are always so bitter to anything that is not about Playstation? On reddit is even worse.
@Drago201 Sony does that on PC tho.
60? That's about 30 too much form what I have expected
I’ll pick this up at some point but I’m in no rush right now.
@Shrek_Realista 100%
@get2sammyb Don't think it will sell that much at full price, especially for a game this old.
@RZ-Atom He's right, it came out in 2021 and should come with all DLC as standard. Will impact sales for sure.
@EfYI They don't have a "more developed" sense of car games than you, they're just saying that a game that's semi-sim where the grass and weather greatly affects your handling isn't the same thing as a (quite clearly) arcade game that lets you drive a hyper car at 350km/h through a stone wall with zero consequence aren't exactly the same.
You're basically saying a rib-eye steak and McCoy's crisps are the same because they both go "yum yum" in your mouth and taste of steak.
@Decimateh-xblz And that is is the 'unique selling point' that Microsoft will have with their Consoles - rather than rely on keeping games away from others to force you to buy their hardware.
The game is still brand new and there has never been a 'Playstation' version that is optimised and working with the PS5 hardware and OS 'correctly'.
You'd expect Sony to charge the same as any other 'new' release when they bring their games to PC for the first time and IF they ever decide to release some games on Xbox to 'maximise' their reach and revenue for some games too, you'd expect them to charge the going rate for 'new' releases - not the price of a '2-5yr old game' on another platform. It's still a 'new' to PS platform - I have Game Pass and Xbox too so I know it's benefits to MS owned IP's/Games - but if I 'prefer' to play on a 'Playstation' because of Controller, hardware design, or whatever, that's the 'price' to play on that hardware and/or 'wait' until you can play it...
I've only ever played this on GamePass and had to check Amazon to see how much it would cost me without that Subscription. It's still hovering around £50 for Xbox, I really thought it would be cheaper by now. GT7 is -41% and is going for £42, it's usually £70. I thought Microsoft would sell it on PS5 for about £50 not £60, but £100 for a premium edition is probably one of the biggest cash grabs I've seen in a while.
I'd understand if they were trying to make back the money they spent on making the game, it's been four years. GT7 is expensive but they add free cars, Forza 5 has so many individual cars for sale at about £2 each and packs like Hot Wheels for something like £15 each. I'd expect they bring those DLCs over too. So about 50 paid for DLCs, packs, treasure maps and car passes. Standard will be by no means anything near complete.
Edit: I just checked, there's over £200 worth of DLC and some of those cars aren't covered by the car pass. It looks like they added a new ultimate car bundle a few weeks ago too (on Steam, I don't see it on console) I see my Jurassic Park 1992 Jeep Wrangler in there.
@EfYI no one needs to take this quote ludicrous bait - lolz
Yeah, echoing a few other comments in saying that, as exciting as it is for Horizon to come over, it's a bit of a slap in the face for it to be $60. And then an earlier report said this was with no DLC included, so that's even worse. Like C'mon, what are we doing. You are literally releasing this game to a ginormous community of people who either never played it before because they gamed exclusively PS, or owned both systems and have actually played it before. This is (and I'm using super air quotes here) "free money" essentially. Why upcharge?
Oh M$? M$.
I sincerely hope this won't be the norm.
I can play it on my Xbox One for half that price but Microsoft have got to get some of that money back they spent on Activision
@GirlVersusGame you can get it from CeX for around £35 on Xbox never price check anything on Amazon they're always more expensive and sometimes it goes on sale in Argos as well
@Dampsponge True but the PushSquare links are usually on Amazon and I don't mind some of the sale going to them.
@species
I guess you could say 'crusade' when it comes to my support of VR, and I do think that getting GT7 in stead of Forza enables you to partake in PSVR 2. So yeah, I plead 'guilty'.
I like GT7's business model better than the Forza's business model described by others in this very thread.
In Forza, you can pay 100 dollars or 60 + endless little dlc-transactions to get additional cars.
There's a lot of people moaning about the very fact I speak my mind. Makes me think: how many are American Trump voters, die-hard Xbox fans that want PS users' subsidy for new games for Xbox. Suddenly, they are in favour of welfare!
I will wait until it's 40-50$ CAD for the complete edition. No way I am paying full price for a 4 years old game.
@thefourfoldroot1 $60 to PlayStation converts to £60 you should know this
I learned in this comment section that this is not Forza Motorsport like I’ve played on Xbox back in the day (haven’t played a Forza game since 2!)
Instead this is sort of a spinoff, more arcadey racer.
That’s kind of cool and smart considering there’s already a masterclass sim racer available, optimized for the system: GT7.
I’m still not sure if I’m getting this or not. I’d kind of rather another Dirt game or something instead of this. I do remember loving Forza Motorsport back in the day though so we shall see what reviews say. I’m one of those who thinks $60 is fair: it’s brand new game for some, myself included. I expect to pay $60 for new games.
@InJeffable it might be a few years old but I can't think of another game that looks better or plays better. If you like driving games it is well worth the price. It is a great game.
You all do realize that the MSRP for the Xbox version is still technically $59.99, right?
Sure you can probably find deals on Amazon or other retailers on physical copies, but if you go to Xbox store…it’s still $59.99 “for a 4 year old game”.
Plus, I don’t hear people complaining about the price of PS5 Remasters of PS4 games that can still be played on a PS5 or when PC gets charged full price for “old” games.
I guess it’s only greedy when it’s not Sony doing the price gouging.
Keep in mind that Forza has licensed cars plus the team had to work in an ecosystem they probably had very little knowledge developing for. They aren’t some first-party developer who already has an engine working in Sony’s ecosystem adding some extra bells and whistles.
At least Microsoft isn’t charging Sony prices for a new game - and a flagship title from Microsoft no less.
Plus, again, it’s still technically a $60 game on Xbox.
@NattyKing OK.
@dskatter @EfYI you can still buy copies of Forza Horizon 3 & 4 on ebay for under 20 bucks. I bought copies for my son last week. He kept taking my copies so I broke down and bought him his own.
@EfYI I personally think Forza Motorsport is the better game. GT7 is good but Forza Motorsport is the better game. Forza Horizon 5 is like the Crew on steroids. It is a open world driving game,
Sony charges full price for PC ports of games even older, I don't have a problem with them doing that on PC and in this case with Microsoft.
They probably view it as "this Is a game that shouldn't even be on PlayStation but for a premium you get to play it on your favorite system".
@BleedingDreamer Sure can! I got 2 and 3 on disc last year at a local hobby shop for like $15 each.
To all the people complaining about the price: 1) I'm sure Sony has some say in the 60 price tag and 2) for people who have never played FH4, 60 is a good price for them cause it's a new game to them and 60 is the same price as nearly every Sony remaster of a remaster don't forget that. I won't be buying this cause I already got it on Xbsx but maybe if the price is down near Christmas or something I might get it for ps5 just to have a physical Microsoft ps5 game lol
Day one for sure! Can't wait!
@thefourfoldroot1 Thing about game pricing nowadays is that they don't use exchange rates anymore. They just swap out the currency symbol. $60, is £60 here.
I mean, if you are complaining about price, there is still ability to just sub for Game Pass and play it there
@zancoooo Day One!! You must be loaded, the Day one version is only for the Premium Edition and costs $100.
@Rog-X I'm going with the premium edition. I always buy at D1 the games that I really want badly. It's my hobby, I spend lightly a lot of money on this and I really think it's worth.
This is priced exactly as it is priced for the Series X? Why the ridiculous outrage? I'm glad Its getting ported and if you have a pro you are already going to getting a better version - I wouldn't expect it to be cheaper than on the native platform too! and Anyone who does is surely just looking to moan?
Having bought it on Steam and played it via game pass on Series X, you'd think I'd have had enough... But I love this series, so I'm likely to just jump in anyway...
Will not be buying that !
@Titntin That's not really true is it, you also get the PC version included/Free with the Xbox Digital version on Xbox store and also with Ultimate Gamepass.
Microsoft don't lock you into the Xbox Digital store so you can buy from 3rd parties, on Xbox Series X it's £28.99 from cdkeys(UK key).
@Rog-X Its completely true, go to the Xbox store and buy the game on series x for less. You can't, because it's the official price.
If you wish to be pedantic, then yes I'd probably buy from cdckeys myself. But I also buy PSN credit elsewhere and always save %15 too. None of this changes the official price on the current consoles.
When I wanted to ensure I had fh4 and fh5 preserved, I bought the steam version... I don't like to use the Xbox app on pc, but I've no choice on my series x.
@Titntin But you don't need to shop on the Xbox store, in the real world when you actually buy an Xbox game there are no official prices to worry about as you are allowed by Microsoft to buy from 3rd party.
@Rog-X why do you post on here when you are clearly a Microsoft Fanboy? Wouldn't you be better off on an Xbox site.? You know where you could actually talk about the console you are supposed to be interested in.
@Rog-X Theres clearly no point in talking to you. I game on Xbox, have owned every console they ever made and have worked as a games dev for Microsoft (amoung many others), but I clearly don't shill for them like an ai bot.
The information I have provided is perfectly correct, anyone on their series x who navigates with their console to the shop to buy the game will be offered it at this price, so this price is and was to be expected as the game launches on PS5.
If you genuinely just want to use this forum as a place to shill for your favourite plastic box, then I find your attitude offensive and you are clearly insecure. Pathetic behaviour.
Just seen your post history and all the removed posts. More pathetic than expected. Congratulations on being the first person I've ever officially ignored on these sites, you have nothing to see or add of any value to anyone.
