Sony wants you to be among the first to try out upcoming PS5 games and features, and it’s launching a new beta program to manage it all.
While participating in betas has often required you to jump through various different hoops, the platform holder is launching an “easier, more consolidated way for gamers to sign up to participate in future PlayStation betas across a wide range of PlayStation experiences”.
The PS Blog’s Sid Shuman explains: “The Beta Program at PlayStation will create an easy, centralised place for you to register your interest in a range of future PlayStation betas.
“A single registration for Beta Program at PlayStation will allow you to express interest in gaining beta access to test participating games for the PS5 console and PC, new PS5 console features, PS App features, and even user experience features on PlayStation.com.”
The key here is that you only need to sign up once to express interest in all upcoming betas, and if you’re selected for a specific test, you’ll be able to decide whether you want to participate or not.
It’s worth noting that this initiative doesn’t guarantee access to a specific beta, as Shuman stresses sometimes there “may be more interest than the company can accommodate”. This is more about expressing your interest in being considered for future betas – and, as mentioned, you only need to sign up once.
You’ll need to be from an eligible location to participate, and must meet the legal age requirement for your region. Beyond that, you’ll just need a valid PSN account in “good standing” with an up-to-date email address.
And that’s it really. Once you’ve registered through here, all you’ll really need to do is sit tight and see which betas you’re selected for. This should be fun, huh?

Nice! Sign me up
Its as easy as 1, 2.....404! lol. Looks like Sony's beta registration page is having some issues and throwing an "error 404 Page does not exist" error.
Error 404
Looks like you're lost
Looks lost
Error like you’re 404
Haha yeah, I'm also getting a 404. I assume it'll be fixed soon...
Would be cool if they let us play test TLOU3
I used to do this on Xbox, but over time I prefer to have a stable experience, i'll wait.
I don't work for free, thanks.
@heavyartillery56 I think the playtests will be about Sony's live service games like Marathon, Fairgame$ and the Horizon multiplayer game.
Excellent. Just registered. Worked first time, didn't see any 404.
Worked for me, too.
Probably get access to the horizon co-op beta this year.
It was a pretty cool experience. I was able to beta test streaming on PS5 long before that was available to the public. They let me test out God of War Ragnarok for free, so that was a good deal for me.
I just joined up!
I've been entering the EA one for over a year now and I've never got in one yet it's a very lucky pick but EA do you give you some games if your managed to complete what they need
I signed up. I’ve made it to every play test on PS so far this year and I’m looking forward to keeping that going!
"gaining beta access to test participating games" I think this is a key statement - if publishers don't participate, you may still need to go directly through them to participate in their betas.
Not really a "sign up once and get access to every beta possible", more "sign up and get access to betas for publishers we've partnered with".
I used to be a beta tester back in the PS2 and PS3 era so be nice to get back in. It was mostly multiplayer betas back then so I’d expect the same here.
There is a beta testing program that you don't even have to sign up for! Its called buying a game on release.
Signed up. I don't see why not.
They say that signing up does not guarantee you are accepted, but did anyone that signed up NOT get an acceptance email right away?
@Almost_Ghostly if your account isn't in good standing i.e. you have a history of infractions and bans, you probably won't be accepted. If your account is in good standing, you'll probably get the acceptance email fairly quickly.
So the question should be - if anyone doesn't get accepted, let us know (so we can quietly judge you for being toxic)!
I'm good. I only sign up for PS Plus when I need to play online for a month or two.
I just signed back up for Monster Hunter Wilds, so when I am done with that, I will just unsub.
