Blizzard has revealed its fan-focused BlizzCon event will return in 2026, marking its return after a two-year absence. The event didn't take place in 2024, and this latest update confirms there won't be one later this year either. 2026 is the year for BlizzCon's return, though, as Blizzard looks to "elevate this iconic celebration and create an unforgettable experience for all who take part in it".
For PS5, PS4 owners, this means significant Diablo 4 and Overwatch 2 news updates are more than likely scheduled in for the big opening ceremony, with the event overall taking place over the weekend of 12th to 13th September 2026. Surrounding the main stage will be "in-depth panels, the Darkmoon Faire, friendly competition, hands-on gameplay, and more".
Blizzard explains it wishes to put on an event "worthy" of its community and is "building this event just like we build our games: with a deep commitment to our players, with respect for your connections to our universes, and as a celebration of the strength of the bonds formed through shared adventure".

Now that Blizzard is an Xbox studio it may be time to rename it to XboxCon. Showcase titles from the entire umbrella rather than one division.
Give us an Overwatch 2 PS5 Pro enhanced edition with 4K/120fps already. I'm sick of Blizzard treating console players like second-class citizens.🙄
@Ilovecoffee or just give overwatch 1 back. otherwise, why would blizzard waste resources on garbage
@Ilovecoffee there’s only one problem with that. We console players are second class citizens due to the weak CPU in the PS5, PS5 Pro and Series consoles. Graphically the consoles can push fairly decent graphics but the CPU can’t keep up.
@Ilovecoffee agreed - really love the pS5 but my biggest gripe by far is the stick drift. PC is my next move asr the ps5 reaches the end of life
@Dudeitsme what’s really great about pc is that you can use virtually anything as a controller with it. i can’t wait until the xbox- dualsense hyperkin comes out, haven’t had a stick drift with their controllers yet
I hope BlizzCon actually announced something that isn't an expansion. Blizzard burned me bad though - I pre-ordered Warcraft 3 Reforged on the promise of new cutscenes, retcons to match WoW lore, and overall massive enhancements to the original game, and what I didn't realize until I started playing was that they decided to quietly cut all of that to save costs. And the worst part? They lied about it - instead of just saying we had to scale back our ambitions they pushed it onto the gamers, saying the feedback was to keep the game exactly as is.
Extremely dishonest to blame the consumer instead of just being transparent.
