Cyberpunk 2077, the popular PS5 RPG, is getting an official arcade game – and it’s so close to being cool.
Weighing in at 670kg, the actual cabinet itself looks incredible, with vibrant yellow artwork on its exterior, and an illuminated bench lit up in red and blue. There are two mounted assault rifles which serve as controllers – awesome stuff!
But this isn’t Time Crisis or House of the Dead – it’s effectively a high-tech shooting gallery which pairs physical targets with visual effects.
While we’re sure it’ll be entertaining for a couple of minutes, when we first saw the trailer, we were imagining a rails shooter like the arcade classics from yesteryear.
The maker LAI Games does say there’ll be a story mode, but it’s not clear how that’ll work. There’ll also be versus and sniper options, too.
What do you make of this? Would you still pop in a quarter and give it a go? Let us know in the comments section below.

Agreed. It looks very underwhelming from what they showed. I was expecting major amounts of dropping jaws when I clicked on the trailer. Considering the size of the unit as well I thought whoa major tech is in this....and a shooting gallery...
This is what Cyberpunk on consoles should have been in the first place but we got that RPG thing instead
Sadly I think modern arcade games in general are severely lacking compared to what we used to have. The cabinet itself looks impressive but that gameplay was hugely underwhelming. This is why I have my Sinden Lightgun to play them on PC and I might get that Time Crisis Arcade 1up cabinet
No, i wouldn't pop in a quarter ,and neither would you push square as you're based in the uk 🙄😂
The next coolest thing to metal gear pachinko!
I'm getting serious "April Fools" vibe from this. I think the video went live too early.
I think this could be fun. I wouldn’t rail against a Cyberpunk branded pinball machine for merely being pinball. The video doesn’t exactly explain what this is all that well though.
I'll wait for the Roach Race arcade machine.
I don't see it. What arcade owner - there are still some arcades out there, just not many - wants something with all those little pieces that are going to get thrown out of the game and into the rest of the room? It sounds loud, too, which will distract from other games near it. They'll have to deal with mechanical jams, running out of the pellets, people trying to reach in to get pellets...plus how do the targets pop up again, I assume it's got to be an entire row at once. But with all the sensors (or cameras?) it's using, it seems like a lot of points of failure.
If this isn't an April Fool's Day joke, it's just a bad idea. I don't see it selling...but then again, I could be wrong.
@RobN it's not actually shooting anything physical, like with Time Crisis it's just 2 guns aimed at a screen with sensors to detect where in the screen you're aiming at. Just that instead of running a kickass game inside that huge cabinet it's just a digital shooting gallery.
