DC x Sonic the Hedgehog Is the Comic Book Crossover We Never Knew We Needed

Next week will see the debut of DC x Sonic the Hedgehog, a new five issue comic book crossover we never knew we needed. The first issue is set to release on 19th March.

Penned by veteran Sonic the Hedgehog writer Ian Flynn with art by Adam Bryce Thomas, the mini-series promises an “unprecedented crossover event where the Justice League and Team Sonic must unite to save their worlds from a major threat”.

A description from DC Comics adds: “The action speeds up when the monstrous Darkseid crosses dimensions to invade the world of Sonic the Hedgehog, seeking the ultimate power.

“Sonic and his friends have faced everything from mad scientists to ancient spirits, but the forces of Apokolips may be too much for them. Thankfully, the full heroic might of the Justice League arrives to back them up.”

Some early panel samples show a delightfully vibrant art style, with one particularly compelling scene showing Metal Sonic in the foreground while Batman looms overhead.

In addition to the comic, future DC and Sonic the Hedgehog collaborations are planned, including a merch set featuring Shadow dressed as Batman – although this will be exclusive to Target in the US.

Other planned merch includes Sonic as The Flash, Tails as Cyborg, Amy as Wonder Woman, and more.
