Capcom has given us a deep dive into Title Update 1 for Monster Hunter Wilds. The game's first major update launches next week, on Friday the 4th April, and it's absolutely packed with new stuff.
If you've fallen off Wilds since its launch last month, then these additions should pull you back in. There's a new monster to hunt, the return of Arch-tempered bosses, and more.
We've broken all of the info down into a handy bullet point list:
- Title Update 1 releases on the 4th April
- The bubble-blowing dragon Mizutsune is being added through a new hunt
- Mizutsune has its own equipment that can be forged
- Arch-tempered Rey Dau is being introduced through an event quest
- New Rey Dau Gamma armour sets can be forged
- High Rank Zoh Shia is being added, and can be hunted via dynamic region quests
- Zoh Shia will have its own set of weapons and armour
- The Grand Hub is being added, allowing whole groups of players to get together in one big area, set up quests, eat meals, and socialise
- The Grand Hub has its own events, such as a songstress who performs on stage in real time
- Specific Arena Quests are being added, allowing you to compete with other players for the fastest completion times on leaderboards, and earn cosmetic pendants depending on your performance
- Some Arena and Challenge Quests require players to use predetermined equipment
- There's a new outfit for Alma that you can have her change into (alongside a new pair of glasses)
- Free DLC including new player gestures from past games, is being added
- New (and paid) cosmetic DLC packs will launch alongside the update
- More Event Quests are planned for the update and beyond
- Seasonal events are coming to The Grand Hub, beginning with a spring festival on the 23rd April
- Participating in seasonal events earns you special rewards like unique cosmetics

Sounds great. I'm still fighting my way through high rank so this will likely be out before I finish it.
Great choice on Ray Dau as the arch-tempered. Probably my favourite new monster.
That zoh shia armor goes so hard. I can't wait. And idk I've always thought mizu's gear was lame but I'm loving the female armor for it this time
And the lagi tease lol. I'm hyped but man how amazing would underwater combat be if it was brought back for it with the new focus mode
Sounds like a hefty update! I
hope the rumors that this team and Sf6’s share a lot of resources are false as I would hate to see less support for the game
Looks like a really great and hefty update. I pickup Wilds every few days and do a hunt here and there and catch up on the event quests.
Great update, if this is the base line for title updates this game is going to continue to be excellent.
Finally get to hunt Fatalis clone again 😁😁😁
@Judal27 The area for Lagi is already in game you just can't access it yet without mods.
Bigger update than I expected. I'm looking forward to it. Rey Dau is great and I'm so glad they chose him for Arch Tempered. I'm so tired of fighting Arkveld and dumb Gor Mag (who is my least favorite monster of all time)
@NathanUC My main problem with Gor Mag is how much the camera struggles. Trying to see through its wings is impossible sometimes!
@ShogunRok for sure. I've maxed the camera speed as high as I can tolerate and it's still not enough. Could be a skill issue as well, but I also feel like a lot of the animations don't line up with hit boxes correctly. I'll get hit while it's still winding up on a few of the lunging attacks. Feels very inconsistent. Just in general, it's not a fun fight for me.
@NathanUC I primarily use the lance, and I find that my character just gets swallowed up in Gor Mag's model — partly because of how erratic its movement can be, and partly because of those bloody wings.
I do agree that fighting it feels a bit off sometimes. Some of its attacks feel weirdly telegraphed to me, but like you say, could be a skill issue!
@DennisReynolds didn't even realize it was getting a new area too. That's actually cool. Even if these maps are so damn confusing lol
Way way bigger than I expected. I feel like some of this was intended for launch (hub, zoh Shia) but am happy to see it’s sooner rather than later. Time to boot it up!
@ShogunRok I found a gold crown (massive) Arkveld and let’s just say if I wasn’t running charge blade with perfect block skills I would not have killed it. Couldn’t even see my character.
It doesn't answer the main question: is it worth crafting Artian weapons now or better weapon trees are coming up with the new monsters? I'm in such a trouble to make a decision, it's unbearable...
Lagi tease, the leaks were right after all, seems we already know all the monsters that will appear in future updates.
Sad to admit that I have soured on the game quite a bit. It's just way too easy and the balancing patch it needs seems to be very much off the menu. So now I get to wait 5 weeks to kill AT Rey Dau in 16 minutes on my first try? Very cool! :/
@Coffeeglitch Yeah I'm glad I use lance a lot of the time when fighting gold crown monsters. I just stand still and hold block if I can't see what's happening.
@NathanUC Haha funny how tastes work as Gore is in my top 3 monsters 😅
@ShogunRok personally I use the bow so I'm always far enough from the monsters to enjoy the view!
@DennisReynolds yeah it's cool in theory but just feels janky to me. If the attacks felt like they actually connected when they should, it would be a cool fight. I also don't know if it's intentional, but his frenzy blight doesn't get removed by HH ailments/blight negated
No words on performance improvements. We will have to see.
@Athrum Its a good selection. I guess the Elder's will come in the expansion.
I really wish they had seikret armor crafting from monster parts. It would be another reason to farm and collect. Missed opportunity.
Grinding out my high rank armour and weapons, so this gives me another 10 days to get everything I want before they add more stuff I will want.
The camera does indeed wind up being the biggest challenge in this game. I hate how locking in force-snaps you into position, even when you're actively trying to pan away from it. Then when you aren't locked in it can be hard to keep up with some monsters movements. There's no option that truly feels comfortable.
Such a huge update just a month after the release. I really love the devs of MH Wilds.
I'm super hyped for the future of this game.
I tried monster hunter world and found it boring, bought this and killed the first frog thing... Found it boring and a slog, chasing it down and repeating the same attacks... Am I missing something about what makes this game so highly rated? Genuinely
@Splat and this is just the first update, more will come during the year!
Great timing - just starting to put together my first top tier high rank armour set only to... replace it with the new stuff! Classic Monster Hunter. I really love this game, nothing else is getting a look-in.
